2004 F650GS (non-ABS I think)

Ignition on: Warning lights ok, but no lcds, speedo or tacho.

PCB looks clean but on closer inspection, either some flux or corrosion in tiny areas, hard to tell.

I’ve asked three independent firms to repair but they don’t do this bike. One offered to attempt repair for £180 yikes.

Next step: order the two capacitors and stepper motors and find an electronics person to replace them.

Before I do that, can anyone recommend anyone who will repair?

If its your bike, you should know whether its ABS or non ABS

Does the bike run / start?

Is it the original Kombi? or SH

Have you changed anything prior to the failure

Bike history - running non running , been sitting around, new battery etc etc etc

And most importantly, before you go throwing money at fixing a Kombi, how do you know its faulty,

It may seem like a robust opening, but 1st post with scant info , theres not much else we can offer at this stage

23k miles, average condition, fault history unknown. 8 year old battery but bike always starts. Will replace if I determine bike is not too much of a money pit.

Bike rides well. I don’t know how to tell ABS. Don’t know what Kombi or SH means, it’s a 2004 standard F650GS, UK.

SH - second hand

Kombi is the BMW word for the dashboard

If you habve a small toothed ring on either the front or the rear wheel, you will have ABS

Often Kombi failures are a sign of another bigger component having failed

Ive ordered a new Yuasa battery and will try that first.
