Have done a search but no luck.
Have contacted companies mentioned in the posts but can't help. Carol Nash, my insurance just say no! Anyone know of or can recommend anyone. I am after third party (green card) insurance, trying to avoid border insurance. It's for Hungary, Croatia, Slovinia, Serb, Bulgaria, Turkey this summer.
Used a German company in the past for trips to Baltic states, Russia etc but no longer about, well website down, not found. Any one point me in the right direction Thanks

You don't need green card for Hungary, Croatia, Slovenia, or Bulgaria. They are all EU and should be on your standard policy.
I don't know current details for Turkey I'm afraid but there are several on here who will.
You'll be very lucky with Serbia. The few insurers who have been known to offer cover change their minds constantly:blast Border insurance is available at major crossings but is far from cheap, about 100Euro last time I heard:eek:
Keep trying with Carol Nash, try and get moved up the call centre food chain a few levels and talk to someone who isn't reading off a screen:thumb2

Good Luck

Thanks for the reply MrIFan. Sorry I got my countries mixed up, big list of countries cut and pasted wrong ones:toungincheek
Was after Serbia and Bosnia, Croatia and Turkey not in the EU as yet so insurance will not cover them but Carol nash say I can add Croatia to policy temporary but still no joy with Turkey.

I've never had any bother getting into either Croatia or Bosnia on my standard policy. Over the last 7 years I have been in and out of both about 30 times. Not sure on the level of cover you would have if the worst happened though?
PM ExpatinInstanbull for info on Turkey:thumb2

Carole Nash do cover with Groupama, who will cover all of those countries (maybe not Serbia). We did that whole lot in 2009 using Groupama from CN - it did mean that I had to cancel the policy I had and take out a new one. Even did Montenegro, but Serbia and Kosovo may be an issue, for some reason we got away without paying any border insurance fees. The green card for the non Eu countries was free.

Border prices :-

Serbia - can be cheap or expensive, we paid 80 Euro on the 2008 Turkey Trot. Others have got it a lot cheaper.

Bosnia - from 30 Euro depending on length of stay.

Croatia - I've never had insurance in Croatia, been there 4 times, they're not bothered at the border crossings I've used. (Carole Nash promised me a green card last year but it never arrived.)

Turkey - was 10 Euro for 3 months.

(If you're down that way you should also visit Montenegro :thumb)

Thanks all for the information. Will try Groupama with CA next week. Have been to Croatia etc before but on my own so just chanced it, never had a problem. This time Sue is going on her own bike with me and just that bit more "concerned".

If it helps, I've just insured a bike through "Bikesure" which is a trading name of Adrian Flux.

The policy is with Groupama and on the back of the certificate it states, "The cover under this policy applies in respect of events occurring in all member countries of the European Community and Croatia, Iceland, Norway and Switzerland."

The level of cover is the minimum required, i.e. third party only, but at least it's cover!

Copied the following from DirectGov website

Where the Green Card is needed

A Green Card is not required by law to cross borders within the European Union and some other countries. This is because all EU countries and certain other countries comply with the first directive on motor insurance, which says that every insurance policy issued in the EU must provide the minimum insurance cover required by law in any other EU country.

The countries that don't need a Green Card are:
Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland

The countries that do need a Green card are:
Albania, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM), Islamic Republic of Iran, Israel, Moldova, Morocco, Russia, Serbia and Montenegro, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine.

Note that Croatia, which is not EU yet is covered by policies as standard (as is Switzerland)

I have just changed to Equity Red Star for my GSA as they are offering a free 90 green card.

As mentioned, Green Card for Turkey and insurance at the border....pennies, so don't worry about it but carry Euros to pay or change 10 Euros before the border. You'll need a visa for yourself, for Turkey, this is £10 for 3 months mutiple entry.....but you can't leave without your bike. Make sure you have the orginal V5 for the bike, a photocopy won't do. Try to hit the border very early in the day, if coming in the summer, or allow for queues......Turks living in Europe head back during July and August and block things up a bit. If traveling around 12th of June bear in mind there's an election and expat Turks have to travel to a border to be able to vote, this might cause extra congestion.

To get into Turkey you must bring 4 packs of good bacon, 6 thick pork chops and a pack or pork pies. I'll give you the address where to take them when I'll know where I'll be on the day you get here. If you don't bring them I'll tell my police friends you're a gay Israeli spy.

serbia, just been, they asked for a green card,
(which was from carol nash)
straight in, no probs,
no point arguing with borders, if they want green card. whether they are right or not,
just get an old un, change the dates on the comp, if your insured it dont matter anyway

Just spent the usual tedious hours renewing. CN now can't offer green card for Serbia or Montenegro, but covered Bosnia and Croatia for an extra £25.00. None of 90000000 other companies I called would cover any of the above. Last time I went to Montenegro no one asked anyway, so I'll see and buy at the border if needed.
