BMW insurance

Got my renewal this week, with a letter explaining it is now being underwritten by Allianz insurance.53 yrs old,2004 GS Fully comp, 9yrs NCB,with protected no claims, £122.89. And I haven't looked anywhere yet.

My BMW insurance renewal came in on renewalwith a nice increase of £300 for no reason other than the underwriters were pulling out from Devitts as the BMW insurers. I ended up saving 400 pounds on renewal through MCE and you get all the BSB membership perks too...

BMW £50,)) cheaper than E |Bikes, went back to E BIkes to see if they would match got told thats the price lump it or leave it, i left it!!!
Wicked quotes started cheap as chips on Go COmpare but when you go back to them on their web site they were £250 dearer than BMW !!!

I have business use on my 2010 GSA - £265 with BMW Motorrad Insurance. Wrong side of 50, riding for 39 years, London, garaged, 9 years NCB. From memory, don't think changing from 'commuting' to 'business use' increased my original quote (a few years back) by more than £10.

For gods sake - Ask the fecking insurers, it's what they do a living.
Pointless asking a bunch of gs riding farmers/bakers/plumbers/ libarians/rocket scientists/lorry drivers...........

And while you're on the phone to the insurers tell them a bloke on the internet told you he only pays 18 groats to insure three and a half bikes, so why can't you have the same deal

Flippen hell - here we're paying around 85 quid per month............ :blast

............... bring on the vaseline....................

What are you? Some sort of complete specialist Welsh twit?

Get on the phone and ring a few insurers.

What is so ****ing difficult about it?

I pay about £280 a year for three bikes, garaged in London E1. I am over 50. I have held a full motorcycle licence for over 30 years. I do not need full business use. I have no points on my licence. How similar (or different) am I to you?

****ing useless waste of oxygen.

Bit out of order Wapping specially since I (and everyone else who is subscribed) have what you originally posted in the notification email. If he bugs you then move on and ignore the post. Chances are if you were face to face with the guy you would never say that so why say it just because your behind a computer.

Not entirely sure that I follow the gist of your ramblings. What is this email of which you speak?

But, hey-ho, let's carry on.

Come on, dear heart, what is your advice? I gave mine in post #10 (echoed by St Eptoe in his response #31). All you seem to have done is tell the bloke how much you pay, which is about as helpful as a boiled egg. Though, to be fair, the OP has now decided to tell us that he requires full business use, too.

OP
Just do as others have said. Get several quotes by phone or online or both...simples

Its insurance renewal time for me now. I'm with BMW insurance as they have been the cheapest for the last few years.

To ensure both my GSA and S1000RR costs £600 FC (thats £100 dearer than last year:eek:). And I have 6 points on my licence.

So I got some quotes from eBike, Carol Nash, Bennets etc..

One was £100 cheaper.
One was £400 dearer.
One was the same price.
One wouldn’t even insure my S1000RR because of all the publicity about it being far to fast and powerful.:blast

So i'm sticking with BMW ins. they might be a bit more expensive but i can't be bothered to swap for just £100 saving.

Yonkyo sums it all up.

Everyone is different but shopping around will cost little other than time and a bit of effort. Get lazy and you may pay more, or you may not, than you need to.

He didn't want to save roughly 15% (a ton out of six hundred) but was able to make an informed choice whether or not to do so. Others will want to save just a quid or two, which is fine as well.

PS motor premiums are rumoured to be heading northwrads by about 20%, a figure that matches Yonkyo's price hike from five to six hundred. The reason, liabilty claims mostly. The big commercial insurers have been haemoraging cash. Something has to give.

Started looking round yesterday to renew my insurance, 8 years No claims protected, only claim was 2 years ago when some t*at in a Golf decicided to pull away from the kerb and perform a U-turn just as I was coming up behind him!!! What a ******! To top it all my insurance company eventually ended up settling for a 50/50 claim, reason being that the only witness was my mate who was riding behind me, how f*cking rediculous! The only damage was the bracket that holds the spot lamp onto the crash bar on a GSA had snapped (£29)! Anyway, back to the insurance. I phoned Carole Nash, they quoted me £880:eek::eek: WTF. I decided to Go and Compare, Bennetts came up cheapest. The girl I spoke to from Bennetts was so helpful, with FULL RAC cover, legal protection, Personal Injury and Leathers and Lid covered. 3rd party on any bike insured or not..................£266!!!! :JB How? Carole Nash phoned me back this morning and told me that they could do it cheaper than their original quote, when I told them the price that I had got it for the phone mysteriously went silent!

Using Quidco I've just insured my '02 1150 fully comp, protected NCB, any other bike 3rd party cover all for £107 with Devitts under written by Royal Sun Alliance and I've got £40 cash back:D

Just spoke to CN regarding insurance and whilst aware of their 'free' european breakdown cover, I was unaware it was with the AA. For whatever reason this policy is not viewable online and they donot send out any information until you purchase their insurance. Dont quite understand whats wrong with putting the B/D policy/cover on their website.

Plus if you take out their insurance (and B/D cover) and find within the first 14 days that it fails to meet your expectations then they charge you £25.00 for the privilage. I appreciate this is not a lot of cash these days, I would still rather have this in my pocket and avoid the inconvienience of re-insuring.

Does anyone who is insured with CN know if their B/D policy provides decent cover and if its comparable with others (greenflag, RAC, etc ) and has anyone experience of using it.

thanks
