It's insurance time for my 1988 r100gs , any one recommend any company's with good cover & competitive quotes.

Thanks,
Ian.

Also with Peter James, have a multibike policy, agreed values and good price for the premium.

I’m with Carole Nash. I have a ‘six wheeler’ policy which covers one car and all my bikes, modern and classic. Like all companies I have to Horse trade a good price every year as the renewals are ridiculous. I always get down to a price that’s acceptable. I’ve never had to claim but otherwise the service is good. Classic bikes on their own can be insured quite cheaply if you restrict the mileage.

Got my renewal last week from Carol Nash...............jumped up from £400 to £667 (two bikes BTW).............negotiated with them and they say they were being very good to me. ha ha and they then quoted £558. Got a quote from Bemoto...........£299.

Anybody left Carol Nash having had a classic bike policy.

They don’t give NCB on the classic policy so just wondered how/if you managed to arrange any NCB with another company and how?

There's a dedicated insurance forum for this. :rob

I left Carole Nash and went to Footman James, saving £400 for the same cover.
Last year I went to RH Specialist Insurance, with a near 50% saving over Footman James.

At £265 for eleven bikes, Comprehensive cover and Agreed Value, I wasn't arsed about having no NCB. :D

Although, saying that, I still retain my full NCB due to my RSV Mille and 900 Scrambler being on their own policy.

I have tried all the for mentioned insurance companies last year, for me Footman James wear quite pricey , RH wear very good on the phone & knew there stuff, but for me they wear still a bit pricey , after phoning my present insurance company Carole Nash the price dropped well below what I paid last year so iv stayed with them .
I all ready have two other bikes insured with them & have had good service from them in the past especially the brake down cover
I'll have to look in to the NCD but on last year's statement of fact it did list NCD in the NCD box for me ! in my last year's renual.

Yes, CN do provide a note of NCD on the SoF. No worries if you stay with them, BUT annoying if you move providers, as it is not considered acceptable proof to a new provider - as SoF is merely confirmation of what you have told your current provider.

I moved from CN this year, to their credit they provided formal NCD proof quickly

Although I've had good service with Carole Nash I did have a despute over a none payment of cash back a few years ago.
I bought a policy through quid co & I should have received £40 cash back , but the money never came after loads of calls to Carol Nash they still denied that they don't do cash back.
So I got in touch with the financial ombudsman & after a couple of months I got a very very nice letter from the head of Carole Nash complaints department apologising that I shouldn't have been told they didn't do cash back & was offered a settlement above what I would have got including componsation for my troubles.
