Insured warranty??

In January the AA phoned me and offered me Parts & Labour coverage up until the beginning of April for £17.00. Five repairs (max £500 each) a year with a £25 excess each time. Seemed rude not to take it out.

Will review my AA breakdown cover in April (Got the full monty- top of the range cover last April for £43 whcih had a RRp of just under £200) and then will probably go with their £75 a year Parts & Labour Cover. I note that they are currently offering Roadside + Relay + Home Start + Parts & Labour for £149.00 which seems a good deal.

Well my £17 was a good investment as I just had my battery fail this morning (first breakdown on my GS in 3 years) and the AA said they will pay the price of the battery (£95.50) less my £25 Excess.

AA renewal from April, with bike repair cover, came in at over £240 but after some negotiation, I got it down to £149 with Home Start, Recovery etc and Bike Repair Warranty.

My bike will be two years old in February, and I got the letter to extend the warranty.

Does the insured warranty provide the same or less coverage than the original warranty? I looked through the material on my original warranty and it is a small leaflet with not much information on it. Whilst the insured warranty is a 30 page document ..

From memory there seems to be two ways these insurance policy goes .. type 1 tells you a list of things not included and type 2 tells you a list of things that are included.

What are the big items that I should make sure are included? Final drive seems to be one that comes to mind. What would you call that Right hand cylinder problem??

What about alternatives from companies such as warranty direct? OR are there others?

BMW/Modial is quoting £310 with £100 excess or £362 with no excess

This comes to mind :rtfm

From what I remember from the blurb I read when I extended my warranty recently, the new owner will only benefit from the remaining period of an annually paid policy. I dont think he can renew it after that period.
I still cant decide whether I want the extended cover so I am paying monthly until I feel brave enough to bin it!

My last 54 plate 1200 had a couple of months remaining on the extended warranty taken out by the last keeper... I had no problems sticking another year onto it when it ran out.... and got the gearbox oil seal replaced no questions asked :thumb
