Hi all,

I need to back up a friends computer so he can install his new printer. The software that comes with the printer is asking for him to install the latest ie - He has windows 2K. He does not have a internet connection at this time, so I want to Download it for him and wack it on a disc.
How do I download the whole thing onto my harddrive? Can I download another OS version of ie on to my system in this way?
Is ie the same for xp & 2K?

Please help, my m8 is tearing his hair out!

Cheers me dears.

if you

go to the microsoft site and select the IE6 service pack doobree it should come up with a dialog box offering you the optiion to save the file to disk. Select a suitable location on your hard drive then when it is complete you can go to the location and copy it from there to a CD, assuming you a CD writer of course.

Good luck!

Hi,
I know how to do that. That will only save the installer which is 450k. I need to be able to download the whole IE to my hardisk ready to put on a cd.

I hope this helps.
Regards.

i thought microsoft had stopped putting updates etc. onto mag cover discs as they wanted to maintain tighter controls.

xp sp2 was on cover discs. as it was so large MS made an exception IIRC.

can you not download the installer and then save it to your disc? long time since i've done anything like that.

edit: you could try this

Cookie,

You're a bloody GOOD Egg!
Thanks for sorting that out for me!
Happy new year!!!
