Then it goes thru customs @ Dub or Shannon and shoots up here and because it's a south till north thing it doesn't do customs now!

A poster on the VFR ordered his (twin) set from the U.S. and did get hit with the tax. Still worked out cheaper than buying here, but more expensive than what I'm paying for mine.

I was in the market for a bluetooth comms system and got pointed in the right direction by a good lad on the VFR site.

Bought mine last night and it's already in the post. :thumb2

Finally got around to ordering one myself today. Looking forward to trying it out.

@Davy F: Do you wear ear plugs when you ride and use your F4?

Yes, and so far it's been fine. Listening to music (and voice instructions from the 660), I can clearly hear it up to 70mph, a bit more difficult at 80 and virtually inaudible at 90+, but that is to be expected I suppose. It will also depend on how quiet your lid is. I wear an Arai Quantum which is a bit noisy TBH.

Thanks for the heads up - chum and I went halves on a twin pack, plus had to buy a second mains charger.

Mine was a bit quiet initially with earplugs but since the firmware upgrade has improved imensely :thumb

Jeeeez.....

And yet the link below says that the firmware does not upgrade....:nenau

Misleading or just plain wrong ?

I just ordered a pair, too. Havent received them yet, but if I´d known the firmware cant be upgraded, I wouldn´t have ordered these.

So –*every time the manufacturer upgrades the quality of their firmware, I have to order a whole new product?!!! That´s not very "friendly", is it.....

If it does everything you need - why would you want to replace your F4, just because there MAY be a new s/w revision??

I spoke to the official F4 importers who said that the R116 upgrade was to sort the problem with the Zumo. They say the the firmware on the F4's can only be upgraded by the supplier. TBH I don't know how often this might be needed but even if I had to send them back to Italy, so what- they are small and light so won't cost much to send. There isn't an agent near me so I would have to send them somewhere anyway. I haven't tried rider to rider yet but otherwise the F4 works really well...

So if I want to buy say, a Sargent seat for the Fazer from the States, I can use this method to avoid HM Customs nabbing a wedge of money ? Cool :thumb2

I agree, Zappa – BUT – I really like being able to benefit from any improvement a manufacturer does to a product. Products I own from makers like Nikon, Apple, Garmin, Sony, Subaru, etc. are updated with new software whenever significant development occur.

Great, IMHO, because the product evolve and stay current and "new" for a longer periode of time. Makes perfect sense to me.

putting ireland on your address works, i have used this method, but it usually takes an extra week for product to arrive

F3 interphone arrived

the interphone F3 i ordered 14-03-11 from the ebay supplier in italy
http://cgi.ebay.it/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130458744558
arrived today.
chose the F3 over the F4 because i wasn't fussed about having bike to bike or A2DP stereo and didn't think i needed the extra small mikes which proved to be the case.

the units fitted to my Shark evoline 2 and the wifes Arai full face a doddle using the standard supplied mike/earpeice units. i paired my unit up to my garmin 660 and HTC desire phone without a hitch and me and the wife have tried it all out around the house and all seems to be fine. much louder and better quality sound than the Scala units i've had before.

all good so far, just got to try it all out on the bike now :D

bugger of it was, we did 100 odd miles this afternoon but as the kit arrived just before we went out i didn't have time to fit it.
will have to go out again tomorrow then wont we? :D :thumb2

Payed for mine on the 18/03/11, it was dispatched on the 22/03/11 and arrived today 31/03/11. Time to get it charged, fitted and tested.
