I've got an iphone5, just the bog standard one, which has a 4G sim. I was told that the model I've got wasn't 4G enabled. Didn't really bother me. Now funny thing is I was at my daughters over the weekend and the phone showed it was on 4G.

Question is if it's showing 4G will it work at 4G?

4G never worked with Vodafone contract iPhone 5 but I think some other networks worked ok.

The iPhone will show 'gprs' 3G or 4g dependent on the network connection speed. If you are not on a 4g network or contract it will not show 4g - if you can see it then you've got it!

I'd say that's down to the SIM.

When the 5 came out 4g coverage wasn't wide , now it's a lot wider . If you have A 4 g sim it will pick up 4g .

When the 5 came out at first the Vodafone handsets weren't 4G but they put a program in place if you wanted to use 4G there was an upgrade option to a your contract to get the handset replaced.

I stand corrected the Vodafone LTE band wasn't supported on iPhone 5's Vodafone have since swapped their LTE frequency
