Ipod touch problem

Got an ipod touch version 2.2.1. it's about 4yrs old. When i type a subject in the Google box it starts to search (blue line starts to scroll across)but then it kicks it out & returns to the home screen every time! Any ideas?
When it's connected to the pc there is no outstanding updates for it, i've even done a reset! all the other features are working as they should
Any help greatly appreciated

If in doubt, take it to an Apple Store, or you could try this chap who is great at fixing Apple stuff. http://bramley-computers.co.uk

He's really good and reasonably priced, should it need anything 'mending'.

did you do a full reboot (not a reset or on off)?

solves a myriad of issues normally
