Hi guys, I Have a 2005 1200gs and wanted to use my Ipod for long journeys, does anyone have any expierience of how to wire in power for one? I was thinking of a handlebar bag to pop it in but not sure how best to get power to it.

if you could give me ideas and links to what i need, that would be great. also do i need a cross bar to mount a bag, and any reccomedations?

thanks

If you have a car charger - strip off the plug and fit one of the Hella motorbike/car plugs instead.

You remove the red cap to fit into the BMW power socket, and fit it to use in the car.

Only £4.99 from this outlet:

(You'd get away with the £3.00 one, as the current flow is minimum to an ipod)

(err - you do have a power socket on the bike, don't you?)

What bike you ride without socket???

2005 R1200GS

I had a look at the link, looks like i need to buy a power socket of some sort and a car adapter for the ipod and plug it in? would that be very weatherproof?

There should be a power socket just under the riders seat on the left hand side of the bike. And your friendly BMUU dealer can sell you another one that fits in front of the petrol tank.

Or connect another power socket direct to the battery and then to the handlebars - Powerlet in the USA have a wide range of power sockets for BMW bikes - www.powerletproducts.com - they are pretty efficient and deliver within a week (I live in Oz/Nz). I have 2 additional sockets connected direct to my battery - one for the Zumo and an additional one for intercom unit. Don't like the Canbus.
