Over the last 4 years I have read most of the bike trip reports. Much information and entertainment has been forthcoming
Whilst I don't think I can reach the heady heights of some, this will either give some inspiration and/or gentle reading or bore the its off you
I don't think I could do an 'on the the fly one', as I the phone keyboard would defeat me and the text make no sense. So it is retrospective and on the PC, so I can see what the hell I am putting out there
Apart from Dublin, I had never visited the Republic before. So this was a little tester for the forthcoming half WAW and NI in June.
So what was a light hearted trip became a gem of a trip in its own right. Fantastic area.
This trip started out as a solo tour for 4 days / 3 nights to the Wicklow / Wexford / Waterford area. Booked in September 2023.
We have a group bike trip every year, 6 to 8 of us, since 2003 (obviously covid fucked up a couple of years). Slowly over the winter another joined in, then another, then eventually there were five of us out the normal group of eight.
Start off from Wrexham to Holyhead for the ferry, reasonable set off time on the Tuesday - 5.30am to collect the other 4 and get to the port for 7.45
Great start....it is pissing it down and has been all night. Spray on the roads and the standing water are character building
Black Cat garage Conwy is the meeting point. 1st there...sorry couldn't find a Starbucks

Weather starts to clear and by the time we get to Holyhead, it is drying out

Out of Holyhead

Into Dublin, what a difference in 4 hours

Had a nice little route to the hotel

I had picked the Woodenbridge Hotel for 3 nights as it was a good position for some great roads
https://www.woodenbridgehotel.com/
Stayed in the Lodge part, across the road from the main hotel. Lovely rooms, clean, great shower
Looking out over the river Aughrim and great parking for the bikes
45 second walk over the road to the main hotel for food

We ate at the hotel, breakfast was included. Nice selection of simple food in the bar of an evening
Some light entertainment
