Irish DIY Will?

I dont know the answer to your question, but most solicitors will do it for free.

Yes you can...................

but I'm don't think anyone will be too please if you WILL them a Varadero:D:D

Fek off....:D

In ireland at the moment if one of us dies...

We are married so the other one gets two thirds of the poperty and the kids get the other third...

All I would like is for my wife/me to get the whole lot. Simple.

When the last of us is gone the kids can have what they ferking like....

our solicitor was doing the for somethign like 50 quid ago. but think thats for current customers

I have never received a bill from my solicitor for drawing a will....but then again he has got enough out of me over the years doing business with him.:blast

Seriously though......you can draw up your wishes yourself...but it needs vetting from a solicitor to put it in proper legal speak to comply with inheritance & tax law...all for your own good or your family's and is best witnessed & signed by a independent witness.

Also best to appoint an independent executor to carry out your wishes..not a family member to avoid complications like vested interest.

Myself & my wife's wills are drawn up on the basis that if one of us predeceases the other the surviving partner inherits everything with the proviso drawn in that if the two of us die at the same time (ie: plane /car crash etc) the children inherit everything according to our wishes. In the last scenario it is important to name a legal guardian to look after your children's interest if they have not yet come of legal age.

Richie,

To the best of my knowledge a "homemade will" is acceptable if it has the basics included, i.e. written, witnessed, signed etc.

Best of luck.

Anything you want to give me I'll gladly take. Thanking you in advance!:thumb2

Richie, phone around and you will find someone that will do it for around €50. A local solicitor to me has a big sign up today that its "will week". But do it sooner rather than later. I have seen clients of mine spend many months trying to sort out their lives after their wife / husband died with no will. Even getting the proceeds of a life assurance policy can be delayed if its not set up on a joint life basis.

Not getting a will professionally drafted would be penny wise and pound foolish. It is certainly not a document where the names are just changed. Each depends on tax considerations, which will of course vary on how much you are leaving and to whom. For example, if done right, you might maximise tax relief if done in conjunction with your wife.
The other thing is that wills need to be updated every so often due to changes in law, tax and personal circumstances.
Go to a solicitor. I used to be one, and as have not practised in years, and I wouldn't do my own!!:rob

Brendy

Just been quoted about 300€ for the pair of us to do a will:eek:

*sound of jaw hitting desk*

Should be, as has been said, about €50 or so. At least that's what my solicitor charges. Wouldn't bother with DIY. Unlike those shelves in the dining room, it's not something you want to have to come back to sort out :D

You can as far as I know buy the blank document from Eason's and fill out accordingly. But remember where there is a will there is a family.

diy will

the easons will is regarded with some fondness by the legal profession, particularly the litigators.
