I'd probably go to Scotland for a 5 day trip too for a change of scenery. Borders and D&G not further north unless away longer. Some of the best bits of Wales are on my doorstep but it helps to have decades of knowledge to stay away from the tourist traps when they are likely to be busy. I can find remote pretty easily.
I'm 10 miles into Wales from Shrewsbury. The first photo is in the Mach Loop just above Tal-Llyn lakes. Quiet today as no RAF action on weekends. About an hour from home.
The last photos are between Machynlleth and Llyn Clywedog, also about an hour from home. I stopped on the coast at Aberdyfi for fish and chips.
114 miles, probably out of the house 4 hours with lunch and photo stops. 11-16C.
