i bought a 1300stx when they first came out and the amount of recalls that it had was serious to the point i sold it while i could get a good price privately if i were to consider a plastic 1200 i would wait a while to see what gremlins occur

They're all ugly, in their own beautiful way
but, when you're sitting on them you cant see it anyway.... I'm surprised at the ammount of "...oh what a beautiful bike..." I get from people.....so they cant be too bad....

This bike is wicked.

I have just spent a whole day (9am - 6pm) riding this bike (70% off road) in South Africa. It feels noticeably lighter, more powerful, more agile and even more confidence inspiring than the 1150GS.

If you ride a GS at the moment and you get a chance to ride the 1200 on your local dealers open day, grab it, cos you will love it.

If you have already ordered one, don't worry, it's the best decision you'll make all year!

But then, maybe i was blinded by the South African sun.....

I find the new R1200GS quite beautiful for a motorcycle. Hell, beautiful for a machine in general. Much prettier and more unique than my FJR1300. A big step into the future from my R1100GS...

Looks to me like they nicked the beak from a Suzuki DR 750 BIG, the plastic tank panels from a Honda Varadero, and the lights from a Lancia Beta.
Might be a great bike, but it doesn't look like a pukka GS to me (pukka being one that looks like one that won the Paris Dakar aka an airhead)

You cant see it when your riding it So if everyone thinks its ugly then they are further brassed off when you pass them with such aplomb
