Somewhere out there.
Hi.
I have an 01 GS 1150 that is fitted with decat pipe and remus revolution with the baffle in, it also has a K&N air filter. I've only had it for a couple of weeks.
Today I did the steptoe mod to the CCP and on a test ride, the bike revved more freely and there was defiantly less popping on the over run.

However I am a bit concerned that the bike is running lean on the right pot.
Before I did the ccp mod the end of the plu looked very white, only checked one. After a 20 min run with the ccp mod the plugs look ike the below pics.
It does surge a bit i think (new to GS's ) at town speeds but seems to pull clean and I don' think it is pinking, though i have never heard what pinking sounds like but from reading descriptions sounds like it would be obvious.

I have ordered a new normal air filter as I am not a big fan of K&N and plugs.

BTW the plugs are NGK iridium.
The right plug is from the right pot and left, left.

I noticed on the right side plug that the bit where the spark fires to was brown in the underside?

Any thoughts.

Steve.

Doesn't look like it, but plug chops are not the best indication.

Hard to run a bike flat out for long these days as well.

They all do that sir !

Could be worth starting with a new set of correctly set plugs.

The engine needs some back pressure to stop the popping and banging.

My 03 1150 ran best with the standard cat and the Remus.

If you are in the southeast and cant get it sorted best run it in to Steptoe for a full shakedown . That could save you a lot of time and dosh in the long run.

They look a good colour to me, although it is not a good enough test of a lean mix. As long as the O2 sensor is in line and working correctly the ECU will be constantly adjusting the fueling to maintain 14.7:1 air fuel ratio :beerjug:
