is mine the only lc to have a noise comming from it when engine and ignition switched off, sometimes lasts a short while and other times goes on nearly all night, the best way i can describe it its like a stepper motor or a faint priming type noise, have mentioned it to dealer, they said that they would make a call to technical department but no reply as of yet,has anyone else heard a funny noise from there lc's,ps i have recordered it and let the dealer here it but dont know how to get a recording from my phone onto this site.

sory forgot to add,its not the electric fan and also not the fan for the led headlight, the bike can be stood all day never been ran and start making the noise all by itself

I have heard a similar noise but can't say exactly how long it lasts - also does it when first switched on I think - don't worry about it, I am sure that it's normal.

If it goes on all night I'd be concerned, as much with the power drain potential and also with the fact you must be sleeping with the bike to know this.

Mine only makes the usual noises when the ingnition is on or for a few mins after switching off.

Have you tried opening the fuel cap to vet the tank? I've heard similar on other bikes and its pressure in the tank.

Just an idea.

I'm not sure if the LC has an electric water pump that cuts in to keep the water flowing to aid cooling when the bike stops. Some do have this and as the bike is only partially water cooled it may have. I know my car has this but it only cuts in when it's really hot.

If it does, could be a fault in it not cutting out.

thanks for replies so far, will check the fuel filler and try to check the fan out, also i dont sleep with it ha i spend alot of time in my garage and you no what its like when something bugs you,you cant let it ly,one occaision the noise was ther for a couple of hours and i had to just walk away to get some sleep so not exactly sure how long it went on for after i left but your right i do have a real concern about battery drain as i did mention this to dealer,i will ring them again tomorrow and see if they have followed it up and see if they have found any answers yet

The fan stays on a for a few seconds after turning mine off, then it stops. With all this cold whether I've spent a bit of time in the garage this weekend, and it hasn't come on once.:thumb

There is definitely a new sound there a very light ticking noise as if there is a tiny relay ticking away - can't really be arsed to investigate it - the bike still works after 3 days in the garage so it ain't draining the battery.

" a very light ticking noise " , quick, cut the blue wire,,,, no, the red wire:confused::confused:

It is probably the priming of the ejector seat mechanism, if an imminent tank slapper is detected it ejects the rider to a safe distance.

This is brilliant. I think we need to have a guess the strange noise competition (Excluding BMW employees). Correct answer wins a prize. :popcorn

My guess is that it will be the exhaust valve servo rotating the flap to clean off any carbon deposits. My old Exup did the same.
