is mine the only one

My guess is that it will be the exhaust valve servo rotating the flap to clean off any carbon deposits. My old Exup did the same.

Don't think it's that 'cos it is deep withing the bowels of the centre of the bike, or at least that's where it appears to come from - exhaust flappy thing is a totally different sound.

bag of lC'eed spanners

Is it the bag of spanners rattling into a closed position after cooling down :) from all that LC mumbo jumbo :):P
Nowt such a noise on my 2002 single spark non abs R1150 GSA :beerjug:thumb

Just having my lunch at work, bike is parked outside - I will investigate further when I have eaten.

Just went out and checked the bike, when the ignition is switched on there is a quiet tick-tick-tick-tick sound with a frequency between 2Hz-3Hz; also there is a continuous low level buzzing. I then ran the engine for a few seconds and turned the bike off, I couldn't hear any sounds BUT I have heard the same tick-tick-tick sound as above after riding the bike and switching it off - IT WAS NOT THE SOUND OF THE BIKE COOLING DOWN!

I hope this helps :D

Me To

A faint whistling all the time, even when I'm indoors..... much louder if I put ear plugs in.

But goes away when I ride my bike. :nenau

Ssssssssssssssss.

Fourth years of biking without plugs. :rob

If I get time I will record the sounds and then we can all speculate about the source, 10 seconds of sound is worth 1,000 words :D

Is it the frame slowly bending back into it's original shape after a tank slapper?:D

just to keep everyone in the picture i spoke to dealer again today and was told it is probibly the system on the bike and if i wanted it investigating further i would have to book the bike in for a couple of days, but a big thankyou to jonnyp as noise was on again tonight when i came home so i opened the fuel filler cap and it stopped instantly so must be something to do with the pressure in the tank, again thanks to all and hope it will help people in the future
