Is my bike a 90th edition or not?

When I bought my bike from a main dealer it was sold as a 90th edition and I had no reason to not believe it. It was the right colours and specification as far as I could tell but I now have my doubts. Having seen another bike with it's medallion fitted on the headstock I questioned this with the owner and he said that the V5 has it recorded. My bike does not have the medallion or any mention in the V5. Is this conclusive enough to say it isn't and if so what standing do I have with the dealer. Is there a way I can check?

Do you have documentation from the dealer stating it was a 90th edition as this will help greatly with your case of having been mis sold. If your dealer genuinely thought it was he will have to make up the difference in values if proven not.

If you have RepRom a VIN search should show whether its a special edition as far as I know (it does for my 30 years GS bike). May be other ways but may help.

I'm sure a vin check will show if it is. Trading standards are worth a call in this instance. However If me I would give the dealer a chance to put right their mistake before taking it further.

Purchasing invoice states it is a 90th edition but there is nothing in the V5.

How do I do a vin check please?

Your half way there if your invoice states it is. Do you have an idea what the price difference would have been

Thankyou for your help. Apparently it has option 217 which is the 90th edition but it is not recorded on the V5 and there is no medallion fitted. It is recorded with the vin number though.

Everyday is a school day.

Isn't the medallion something you can buy off bmw on proof yours is the 90th edition

What is on the V5c is entirely dependant on the registering dealer, some may fill in the box as BMW R1200 GS 90th edition , others will merely register it as r1200 gs , as for the headstock adornment is it factory fitted or supplied with the bike for the dealer to affix ?

I wasn't particularly bothered by the lack of the medallion but concerned the bike wasn't what I thought I'd bought. The link you put up to check the vin was very useful as you also get a list of all the options on the bike as well which is as I thought.

Mine is a Triple Black but not mentioned on the V5.

Bimmer.work states it's a Triple Black though.

My bike is boring grey coloured but it doesn't say that on the V5, just some cobblers about magnesium matt. Should I be concerned ??

I would certainly be concerned why anyone would buy something "boring grey coloured". :beerjug:

My Honda Blackbird was described as 'Beige' on the V5. I liked it that way.

We also had a company car whose engine was shown on the V5 as 'Steam'.

My one doesnt say anything about being a 90th, however mine does have the hairy chested medallion on the top yoke. BTW mine almost got lost when the glue that stuck it down fell foul of the wet and almost fell off.
