I have a new Shoei Multitec which has Sonic comms fitted. I have had the helmet 6 months but didn't wear it at work, I have now moved out of Bike section so the helmet is now mine!

I was going to fit a new Autocom, type B headset but wondered if I could somehow utilise the existing professionally fitted Sonic comms with my Autocom?

1. Is there an adapter plug/socket available?
2. If not, can I simply cut off the Sonic plug and wire up a 7 pin Autocom plug?
3. If 2 is possible, anyone any idea of the wiring diagram for same?
4. Am I wasting my time?

I wouldn't have the BGNS with this set up, would there be an issue?

Any help appreciated!

Bottom line is, I have bought a new Type B headset and BGNS, so options are open! How can Autocom justify the extra £15 for the background noise sensor???

Sorry i dont know the answer to your question regarding the wiring issues between sonic and autocom, however i can say that having worn helmets with sonic equipment fitted for work and also having an autocom set up fitted to my own helmet,i have to say that i find the sound quality of the autocom set up both at speed and for normal use far superior to that of sonic.
its only my personal experience but i would swop the sonic stuff and install the autocom set up.

hope this helps

I would say that the Sonic microphone would be 100% incompatable with the noise reduction circuitry of the Autocom. Take the advice of the previous respondent.

As John has says you will be losing the correct noise cancelling microphone the Super Pro was designed around. The noise reduction is split 50% on the mic and 50% internally so running a thrid party headset will effect on how your system will perform.

Also if the BGNS is not used you will lose the Super Pro's Auto VOX and Auto volume for the music so the system again would ne be used for how it was designed.

So all in all you would need to run the full complete headset the Super Pro needs or was supplied with from new.
