Im looking at getting another R1200GS Adventure.
Can any one say whether the TFT is worth having?
Bikes with these are more expensive than without so curious really.

IMO - yes, my favourite feature is the mapping app on my iPhone and the turn by turn navigation... plus the way it integrates to my Nav 4..

It’s clear, easy to use and very functional.

Ive just bought a new GS and i think its worth it, just fitted a screen protector tonight, just incase. bright and crisp image.

I'm struggling pairing headset thou :blast

It just recognised it when I plugged it in... you toggle the display between Nav and TFT to decide which unit the wheel operates.. the range etc shows on the Nav 4 in miles etc..
Didn’t do anything special...

The turn by turn on the TFT comes from your smartphone, not the Nav..

IMO it's worth it for the big digital speedo and the variable redline on the tacho during warm up alone. I chose to pay the extra rather than have a non TFT version and don't regret it.

Ah, found it, its the same as my last RS, it just switches the roller switch to control either sat nav or TFT :thumb

Still cannot get my Midland BT Next C to marry up with TFT :blast

Its all about the Bluetooth version, if yours is 4.2 it may not work, many have already changed comms to a more update compatible version.

I didnt think it was worth it if im honest, early reviews suggested it was still in its infancy, and the other reason i didnt bother with it was because i thought it looked good yes, but id rather read the road than admire the dash, maybe when i change the bike next time i mite think difrent

Not had much chance to play with mine yet, but a little disappointed that on first read of the manual it only seems possible to display one item of optional info, be it fuel range, tyre pressures, etc, at a time. With all that screen space I would have thought much more could be displayed. Could be wrong, and need to have a proper play with it, but although the speed and revs display is a great improvement, it seems like it displays less additional information than the old LCD display.

IMHO Bmw have missed a really good chance to come out top, if only they would have split the screen, half for the Navigation, and other half for the big digital speedo, for me it would have made me think, however in its given state, no real gain except the Digital speed, but I can see that on my Nav6 so sticking with what I have.

Agree with this, and this is what i think will be the next stage for the tft, itergrated speedo etc and nav

I prefer the TFT.

It's far easier to read your speed at a glance and other essential stuff.

I agree the readout is better than the old fashion one. Speed. Gear level.

The added connection to Navi and route capture is also cool (unnecessary but cool).

If you don't mind the price difference, get it. If you are price sensitive, then don't buy it. It's not necessary.

I do have it. I can also live without it.

The BMW marketing model of 'always leave them wanting more' hasn't failed them to this point, why would they change? And that apart from the cut they get from Garmin for the Nav.

I found it over complicated on the GS I rode. If all you want is a speedo, it’s great, but for all the other info, it can be quite distracting.

Looks great at the dealer’s/bike show........

But on the road - you seldom glance at the rev-counter.

If you want flashing lights........ get a trainset.

Whilst the speedo is much easier to spot, I also didn’t like the fact you can’t see more than one item of other info - e.g speedo, Rev counter plus trip, range and external temp, for example. Having sold the GS I cant say I’ll miss it - in fact the vehicle settings stuff was quite distracting.

On the 2018 bike I bought it was free!

Having driven both I would not have the clocks you can not see the speed you are going and I love all the info given.

Now standard on the 1250 which I now have and love!!!
