Is there an easy way to clean it ?

is there any happy ground between the two or products that make it easy

November - clean it for the first time all year. Take one can of ACF50 and apply liberally

April - spend half a day cleaning ACF50 off the bike

Ride and enjoy. We all know they look better dirty!

Does Scottoiler FS365 do the same job as ACF50?

No, not really, as Cookie says, fs365 washes off with water but then again so does salt:nenau, The scottoiler product allows you to spray everthing, makes the brakes a little iffy at the start but it soon burns off, i gets to all those little places that salt likes to hide and neutralises it then when the water has evaporated it leaves the active agent in the nooks and crannies.

The ideal solution maybe a combination of the two products, ACF on the vulnerable parts that you can get at to apply it and FS365 used as a maintainance spray and to get to those fiddly bits you can't access

Any tips for cleaning the cylinder head fins?

Have been using muck off and autoglym shampoo with soft radial brush, then hosing off. There are 5 deep wells between the fins on top of the cyclinder heads. What's the best way to empty these of water? Not having an air line to blow it out, have been flicking out with cotton ear bud, but there must be a better way.

Cheers,

Chris

I would love to hear them attempt to explain the chemistry behind how salt (sodium chloride) can be neutralised? In chemistry thats a term used for acids and alkalies - salt is neither.:augie

I'm one of those people that actually enjoys cleaning and maintaining my bikes and I take pride in the appearance of my ride! I'll admit that I am a polishing and tinkering addict but it's just part of the whole motorbiking experience for me - I DO like to get out there and do the miles all year round as well!:-) ................

Sponge forced down with a blunt wooden stick (lollipop or similar) does the job - then ride it a few miles to get rid of the rest.

I'm going to use the scottoiler stuff and the ACF50, is it OK to put the ACF50 on the cylinder heads?

:thumb Gave me a laugh.

Yes I know its their description, as I read it on the stuff I've got. Its a good product even though it contains a bit of snake oil.
I could offer a guess at how it works, but who wants to be labelled a smart arse;)

Yes.....may smoke a little if you get it on the exhaust headers but no harm and not flammable. You can use it anywhere but TAKE GREAT CARE NOT TO GET IT ON THE BRAKE DISCS OR PADS.
The stuff creeps like mad so cover your discs if ACFing anything above them, it will drip............wipe off excess a while after you're done.
ACF50

sounds likethe popular opinion - Hose pipe, elbow grease and scotoiler, (still going to use a bit of WD though) this will get shite off the bike and good as new ? Yeeeehaa !:)

ACF-50 creeps everywhere, i wipe down my discs and tyres after applying it with wash benzine, go for a blast for half an hour, re clean my tyres with wash benzine, but i wipe my wheel rims and spokes with it but it creeps onto the tyres after the lightest covering.
