DON'T wast your money on Genuine BMW OR EBC pads for the rear of the 1200's.
As has been said DIY is easily done. However changing the rear disc is difficult if you don't have a long '8mm shaft' Torx bit, because of limited space.
Don't bother fitting the EBC replacement disc either, it's worse that the BMW Genuine. Talk to Steptoe he should have some better ones.
On the up side, you'll probably never need to change the front pads unless you cover more than 60'000mls. I've done 37'000 now and they're barely half worn.
As for servicing I'm with the others.
