Help ??

With what ??

Here`s some help......

Hot tip #1

Bury or burn the bastard and claim off your Insurance.

Meaning is the sleeve bent or is it supposed to be like that?

Edited .. after reading post below.

Believe it or not the damage was from the impact when the car hit the head,
initially it looked like only the rockerbox was damaged, then the head, now the barrel, just the few bits so far have cost £900, hopefully the crankcases are intact otherwise it's a bullet between the eyes i think.

I did mention that the r/hand head took a 30mph + 30mph (or thereabouts) = 60mph direct impact - so I'm not suprised at the damage.

When the BMW dealer's mechanics saw the damage, they thought a new short motor was the safest option (perhaps you can do a deal with LiquidLan)

Hmm, well i've gone this far, hopefully the cylinder will sort it, i see there is no gasket underneath, anyone know what jointing to use,

it's certainly taking me back, i haven't worked on a motor in 20 years.

I`m amazed that you`re asking that......the impact damage witness marks are plain to see.

If there wasn`t any to start with, don`t put any on it.

I've not taken the barrel off yet, i read in a manual that the base required
jointing compound,

i wasn't 100% sure if the sleeve was bent or it was designed as an interferance fit, hence the sett in it,

I'm really not that much of a wally, even though i did buy it to start with, ha.

I know where there is a short-block that was replaced as a result of water ingress... as far as I know the insurance company dont want it and it is just going for scrap. It might be worth enquiring... but you will need to be quick.

Thanks for the lead john, it's a job to know which way to go, i've bought so much, i think the barrel ought to do it, let's face it the piston will be ok at 400 miles, i'll see how much a barrel is on monday. cheers.
