Does anyone use an online translator, i am after a, preferably free, software reccomendation for a italian/english translator. The ones i have googled aren't brilliant.Cheers Jasp.

I largely use Google translate (translate.google.com). It is a bit ropey but one of the better ones. The best thing about the Google translator is that it can handle documents which is a bonus. The other I have used is freetranslation.com but this is limited to lines of text and the result is still about the same.

I have ben using google translator and i agree its ok,i guess its probably because some of the terms i am trying to translate are tech terms.

Fiasco????

Thanks all,i have tried each and they all get close. The best so far for anyone else who may need it seems to be babylon, reccomended by a mate.My sister does the main translation for me but sometimes i need to get the gist before that, been a bit slack with the Italian lessons this winter.:jeiger:blast

Further update ...babylon was only a free trial:blast
Thanks Dusan, IMtranslator working miracles:thumb2

I've used three different ones, and Google is about the best of the free ones I've found.

When translating from Italian to English, you can get a pretty decent idea of what is written.

But when translating from English to Italian, I reverse translate it, to see what doesn't translate accurately. I then re-write until I can get a pretty clean translation both ways. I find you get the best results when you write in short, simple sentences, preferably with words that don't have dual meanings.
