It's a crying shame ....

I think Giles is spot on.

Low down power/torque is higher than the WC it's just the engine spins up more easily so feels like it has less (fly wheel mass?)

Re the heat, that was a real big deal for me and nearly a deal breaker. Wings heat deflecting panels have cured pretty much 80% of it and it's no longer an issue.

Re: heat. Can you elaborate on this? is this something you did to your bike yourself or bought it off the shelf? Pictures maybe? I'd be really interested if "hot seat" can be fixed with extra mod. Is the thermal shield added by KTM under the seat?

As for the wind, I put screen up to highest position, but left it upright instead of tilting it towards me and that was no different to my GS as far as wind/noise protection goes.

I did notice that KTM seat is not that comfy and suspension is much firmer. I played with sport and comfy, and I really couldn't tell the difference ( maybe beause EDS was on its way out!? ). Maybe I should ask my local dealer for weekend loaner as well... ;)

Tecman, if you look on the photo of my bike the panels are between the seat and tank. Made by Wings from carbon fibre they come with additional heat reflecting blanket (KTMs mod is a blanket stuck to the seat base).
Google Wings heat deflecting panels and there is more info in the 'tell me about your 1190' in the KTM section. Not cheap but they seem to work :)

Although I'm usually always aware of the heat, it very rarely bothers me. I've never felt the need to buy the wings deflectors.

As for the screen, the higher Touring screen in the lowest position seems to work best for me. Not as good as my. GSA screen but does the job ok with my schuberth c3. Oddly for a bike with off road pretensions, it's not so happy with a peaked helmet.
