It's a crying shame ....

my head had ruled for 11+ years - it was time to go with the heart.

yes, it's cost a bit of money, but fuck it, you have go a little mad now and again :)

Phew ..... I'm knackered!

Have spent the day stripping the bike of header pipes, end cans, Puig fairing filler parts, all the heated clothing wires, phone chargers etc etc.
I'll stick it all up for sale over the next few days but an early heads up that a full remus system amongst other things will be up for grabs (and it's in excellent condition - not a scratch on it).

Would have had a screen for sale too but Rosy managed to drive over it in her car this afternoon ..... :forry

Yes, Tricky ...... I wouldn't have done the deal if it wasn't for KTM's offer. It's about 1.5k off list price and about 1.5K's worth of free luggage.

Chains?? I don't know why peepes get so menstrual about them. Adjust it once in a while (3 min job) bit of lube now and then (I min job) they give noticeably better / smoother transmission, no shaft snatch or lag between gears, and doesnt break the bank to replace when its worn out. :thumb2

Or you could just fit a Scottoiler? :thumb

I really liked my 09 adventure but the beemer lacked a bit when 2 up and doing an overtake. The tank range and windscreen was fantastic and it didn't give me any problems apart from the fuel strip and a slipping clutch. But having ridden the K1600GT and feeling that torque move you and 160bhp to play with you realise every other bike is a lesser bike. I'm pulled by the 1190 since its looks has grown on me and now with the 1290 on the horizon I should go for a test ride just to satisfy myself. There is a shed load of white GSes in our motorcycle club and one more will be too much. I hope it doesn't vibrate as my 1100S, I'm not that kind of guy but if you like a vibrating toy then this is probably the wrong section.

Enjoy the KTM Giles.

I think the 1290 Super adventure, will be an awesome (just to keep wapping happy) road bike. Comfort, panniers, decent suspension, 160 BHP on tap ....

It's gonna be 14.5k plus though ......

I believe it's £15,999, and that's without luggage.

On the subject of chains, I can't get my scottoiler to work consistently. It either bungs out too much or not enough. Even with minimal flow, it flings oil over the rear cylinder and shock. You have to turn it up if it rains, but I always forget, so the chain goes rusty.

It's on borrowed time.

To be honest, you're probably better off with just plain old chain wax. We've a couple of chain drive bikes at work, I never see anybody actually clean them, (the chains) and they're (caked in lube) fine ...

I used chain lube in a can at first. Simple and sticks well, but attracts lots of grit. When it's dosing properly the thinner scot oil keeps the chain clean and oiled.

Its no looker, even compared to a GS. Suzuki Vstrom lookalikeee:D:barf

I do sometimes wonder why the V-Strom attracts this 'ugly' image when you see what's already out there. Perhaps it's uncool because it doesn't have a beak. :blast

I loved the 1190 that I test rode a year ago, but lack of any reasonable pillion comfort was a deal breaker. Does anyone know of their new adventure has a different pillion foot peg positioning?
