ITS A DISEASE, ANOTHER ONE FOR THE SHED....

Early 50s ES2 500cc, looks in good order to. There’s a good reason why Norton made that engine for 40 odd years.

Looks lovely….. I would love one, but doubt my ability to keep it running right ( which I know is no problem for smudger)

Hope it’s all you want it to be…

Nice Es2
I see someone has added a Mk1 Concentric. Should make it much more reliable.
If you need any laydown gearbox bits give me a shout. I've a tea chest full of bits.

So, the ES2 has been on the 'operating table' for a couple of months. I found lots of things that concerned me about the build, lots of incorrect nuts and bolts, loose engine brackets, a few stripped threads, nothing overly taxing but it cast some suspicions on how well the bike had been built, more like 'loosely assembled'?

So, I went through the bike front to back, tightening, re-adjusting, fitting correct parts/correctly, and fitted a new front tyre plus rewired the bike.

It's also been tucked in the corner of a garage where the previous owner had done a bit of home spraying, as it was covered in overspray. I removed all the tinware and gave it all a good clean up and polish, and finally finished it today. Had to get it out for a quick ride up and down the drive and it felt good! Can't wait for a bit of warmer weather so I can get it out on the road proper...

Lovely, just lovely.

I want an old Brit bike that has been “smudger’d”…. So I don’t have to do nowt to it except ride…

A beautiful machine

Well, the first ride didn't go as planned....

Only 3 gears, hmmmm...

I stripped the box to find nowt wrong, but on closer inspection the gear selector cam plate had been put in two teeth out, great news!

Said plate cannot be repositioned without stripping the gear train completely, bollocks.....

All done now and an easy fix I guess, plus no bits left over!
