I don't know, it's a wax based substance, so it's got to give some protection, it only washes off using solvent, it fills in the pores of the alloy!

It stands up very well. I bought some a few years ago after the Yanks on Advrider were talking about it. Its basically make up for your bike.

Of course some of us clean them properly
