Well, after lots of deliberating, I've bitten the bullet and ordered a new 2010 R1200GS Anniversary Edition. :augie The hardest thing is going to be the wait until 1st September, as the bike will be a "60" plate!

As I am new to the world of the GS, and am overwhelmed by the number of options and after market accessories you can buy, does anyone have any MUST HAVE accessory recommendations? I was going to look at GPS and intercoms between rider and pillion, so any advice on these would be welcome. Also any advice on running the bike in properly, and advice in general would be appreciated.

Run it in as the book says ie quite hard compared to the older models!! From out of the crate you can go to 5000rpm. The 30Yr comes fully specced so needs nothing as far as I'm concerned, you can stick some bling on it but I'd save your money and ride it somewhere nice!! .You might want to but a ukgser sticker so people will know you are a right Tosser:D I would not want an intercom as who needs a Row when riding:augie As for GPS if you are going far and wide fair enough but the free panniers will have room for a large map!!:D:thumb

Hi,

Congrats on the new bike! Picked up my 30th GSA 2 weeks ago and loving it - just had the 1st service.

I'd recommend some HIDs (got mine from Les) - they've made a huge difference to people noticing me on the road.

Cheers Ash, I've ordered the plastic cylinder guards as the dealer reckoned they were as good as the metal ones. What do you reckon? Good call on the drive shaft protectors. I've also ordered a BMW engine guard (similar to the GSA but without the top bit)

Don't know how they compare as I've only known the metal ones on this bike.

Which dealer are you buying from?

Vines of Guildford. I'll stick with the plastic ones, as they are cheaper to replace :augie

Fatfoot for stand, headlight guard, replacement power socket fused / wired to battery. cabletie to attach the placcy key to frame in hidey place.

Hi RT01,

brought my GSA from them last year, there are few must haves, some only cost a few quid, a few of us from here are meeting at Vines 2moro at 11am to go for a bit of a ride, if your free pop along and have a cuppa and chat and see some subtle extras.

Hi lbl, sorry Ive just seen your reply! How was the ride?! Maybe next time. What bits do you recommend?

Hi,

4 of us had a nice run down the A285 across to Bury Hill and up A283 to Newlands Corner then home at 5pm (cus i got us lost)..... again :thumb2.

Extra's, where do you start. Ive got.

crud catcher
extended handguards
