I've just bought an 1150 GSA "SE"

Here's mine, 50K miles on her and she'll never go!!! Clutch is biting right at the end now so going to Motoscot on Sat for a new one prior to another Euro jaunt in a few weeks...:D

OK folks. What is the difference between a standard Adv and an SE Adv then? I have an inheritance and not sure what to replace the one that got stolen with. :comfort

I was happy with the standard Adv, I was even happier with the standard GS with the longer gearbox - for the riding I do it was better suited to long runs. My ideal would be an Adv with the taller gearbox and the 40 litre tank my old nail has got.

Sway me, one way or the other!:thumb

OH DEAR YOU HAVE JUST MADE UP MY MIND Thank you - I will not go near another servo assisted brake bike - I wouldn't have one free! Th eone that has disappeared had servo and it gave up as I was haring down a mountain road in Wales....the men in the road works wondered what lunatic was bouncing through them.....unable to stop as I shot through the temporary traffic lights, cones and various men in yellow jackets jumping out of the way. Thankfully I missed everything and everyone - but more by good luck than good judgement.

Standard late Adv it is then.....with possibly a gearbox change. and the difference in the price I will use to go on holiday somewhere:thumb

A good choice Sir. IMHO the standard Adv, non Servo, is a better bike and I for one prefer the silver or black colour schemes. I think black looks better shiny and clean while the silver wears a 'I'm used daily and not pampered' look better. Either way I hope you find a good one.

1150 servo abs you only need to use it once!

I swapped my 1150 gsa non servo 5 years ago for an SE, after a friend on a 1200 made good use of the ABS avoiding a huge Nissan4x4 which pulled out in front of him at 80mph. I was behind, and cound "see it happening", and I thought it was inevitable. When we got back from our week in France, I bought an SE, and in 5 years I can say that I have only really needed the incredibly powerfull servo assisted brakes once- but that was enough to keep me out of hospital or worse. I would'nt want an 1150 without servo assistance, despite the servo whir at the traffic lights, which no longer bothers me, but is the sound of the powerfull brakes reassuring me. It takes a couple of years to start to know a bike, and after 5 years my SE and I are firm friends.
