JohnGS1100 Tuning Chip

Hi John
I have won Ebay auction 112002490682 for one of your chips
I have sent an email to the email address you have on this site.
I am looking forward to fitting it and riding the bike

Thanks
Adrian

Hi John
My chip arrived today.
There are no instructions with it, is it just remove the old chip and replace it with your one?
Or are there other adjustments needed to the engine?

Thanks
Adrian

Yes Adrian just replace the chip.

stage7 for my single spark r1150gs bmw , just like to report that its a massive improvement over the stag8 chip response is good and at low revolutions it pulls away very cleanly before I was getting 189 miles to a tank now im getting 210 miles the stage 7 will stay on the bike say thank you to john in greece

Hi to all friends.

Here is a video of intallation and results of the chip on a K1200LT.

I have no words it was the best surprice in my life from Kirk Johnson (Illinois USA), i like to share with all of you.

John, been running a stage 8 chip in my single spark 1150 for a few months now. Really pleased with the extra power on tap (and there is plenty of it). However, ever since fitting the chip the throttle has become much more sensitive and its become more difficult to make smooth progress at slow speeds on a light throttle. Also other riders following me reckon the exhaust smells of fuel. The throttles are nicely in balance and valve clearances are OK. Is there another tune that might smooth out the throttle a bit?

mark c I had that with my stage 8 as well ive reverted to a stage 7 which is a lot better for my r1150gs with the stage 8 burnt to much fuel and timing advance was a tad to much , john will help you p.s I left my report on this site why not have alook.:D

Thanks Alan.

Hi Mark. The stage 8 as said Sheene gives richer fuel.

Send me a pm if you want the stage 7 please.

Hi Mark. I was send the stage 6-7 chip for your R1150GS. Will works smoothly by better torque and power at high. Will arrive to UK after 1 week.

Let us know when you receive and install it :) .

ANyone who tried the stage 6-7 chip ?

Alan, dcd87, DA1ES, Mark_C ..what about results ?

Is it smooth the function of engine ?

johngs1100 my stage 7 chip for my single spark is perfect its not over fueling and it pulls away very nicely and it idels very good as for fuel consumption it has improved over the stage 8 massively before I was getting 185 miles to a tank now im getting 210 miles sounds very nice on the overrun as well and no popping or banging etc I think the chips have to be perfect for the boxer engines best chips I think are the stage 4 for the 1150rt and stage 7 for the gs1150 just my preference, also the timing to advance on the stage 7 is very good and its a lot easier to start than the stage 8 I had before.all I used was champion spark plugs and a standard air filter. from sheene

Thanks Alan. :)

Finally i thing that stage 7 chip is the best for smooth function, economy consumption by more torque and power..
The stage 8 and 9 is better for free air filter and de-cat system exhaust for full power.

Update

My R1100GS is now set up and balanced

Stage 9 chip
Remus Ti decat system
K&N Filter
Throttle bodies balanced and tick over set to approx 1100 rpm
And finally (yes they did make a difference) Brisk multi electrode plugs DOR14LGS wc

Runs smoother, picks up quicker, will pull from 30 in top gear, is hitting the fuel light at 210 miles and showing a tank to tank mpg of 53

Very pleased :beerjug:

Interested to know what sort of speed your running at to get 53MPG?

Hi John. My stage 7 arrived a couple of days ago - thanks. I hope to get a chance to fit it soon. Will report back when I do.

General running around. That particular tank was local roads cruising at the national limit. I changed to the K&N about half way through the tank, and put the Brisk plugs in about 50 miles before I filled up. I'm an ex courier so ride quite briskly, and would expect this to be easy to repeat unless I become a parachute on the motorway at 80mph :-)

Stage 10 chip arrived Saturday in post.

Fitted immediately to my 05 1150GSA with K and N, decat y piece and Remus end can.

Fabulous! What a transformation straight away.

Just been doing a bit more reading and have just fitted the correct links in the country after some advice from John.

The bike is a dream to ride and has a lot more torque and power on tap. Too early to comment on consumption but very impressed so far!!

Thanks again John.

Thanks Daniel. Note that the stage 10 has very fast timing advance and expand ignition to the sparks for better combustion. You need only a good quality (95 or higher octane) petrols and fully synthetic motor oil 10w50 or 10w 60 (for hard driving at high rpms).

The chip also gives richer fuel, that needed for your hardware setup (free air filter and de-cat system exhaust) for no surges and for smooth function of engine.

This is a dyno from stage 10 chip (R1150R single spark free air filter de-cat system exhaust).

Red line : stock chip with stantard GS air tubes.
Blue line : stiock chip with RT-RS air intake tubes.
Green line : stage 10 chip with GS stantard air tubes.

I think that the GS air tubes works perfect by stage 10 chip. Note that the better torque at low rpms (1.100-2.500) does not appears also you have much more better power exspesially at high revs of rpms (+10 Hp at 5.700-7.100 rpms). :

Let us know about consumption please. :beerjug:
