JohnGS1100 Tuning Chip

No the UK petrol is a very quality. You can burn 95 or higher octane, it is ok.
The dyno is by 95 octane greek petrols so you have no problem.

So just been out for 3 hours on the bike following the stage 10. What a difference!

Torque is there from low revs and overtakes are superb. The mid range pull is unreal from 4K rpm onwards and a lot more power at the top end of the range. Completely different bike.

After a few earlier reviews about low speed sensitivity I have found no issues at all with this and have filtered easily in 1st and 2nd and experienced no sensitivity.

Top notch John and would reccomend the stage 10.

HI dcd87, can I ask what version chip were you using before stage ten . Thanks

I have John's chip 8 in my 2002 RT1150 single plug...mods fitted Brisk spark plugs, original air filter, Remus end can with cat removed, gs intakes. The change in bike is excellent, more torque,no pulsing around 50ish mph, top gear no longer a over drive, now pulls well and holds revs to red line =121 mph recorded via sat nav but showing 132 on clock, Autobann ( before any comments) Tick over1000 revs steady, bike 58000 ridden hard most of its life as ridden in company of sport bikers catching up.

Am well happy with bikes performance, has as for fuel economy cannot comment due to riding style, great communication with John who was very helpful with any questions ask. Chip is very worthwhile investment and cheapest add on. What a pity my 14 GSA cannot benefit from his touch due to computer control rather than chip.

Thanks dcd87 I'm on 9 so looks like I'll be upgrading . Cheers

Hi everyone,
I've a 2000 R1150GS, single spark, completely standard but with the de-cat remus Y-piece. I'm getting occasional pops on overrun, which is a little annoying. Should one of John's chips help sort this out (along with the increase in torque/bhp), and which chip do I need? I've read some of this thread, and it seems stage 7 is the preferred 1150GS tune.
Cheers
Mike

got he stage 7 in mine runs brilliantly on the engine I vouch for it big time . good fuel con
sumption as well !!!!! mt bike is a single spark r1150gs 2000 model .

Chip stage 10 update

Hi folks I

my Stage 10 updates, bit of a blog really

Instalment 1

I just installed my stage 10 chip in my old high mileage R1100RT...it's an R1100 GS Chip because I run GS inlets and have bridged the socket as instructed by John Gemi ..so basically my bike thinks it's GS in an RT body :-)
Now the old Stage 6 GS chip I had on my bike was good, however first impressions after a quick 20 mile shake down of the stage 10 are:-
Slightly crisper bottom end pick up
Noticeably better roll on in the mid range (more torque)
No pinking (pre ignition) even when I tried to make it pink by using wide out throttle at low RPMs
Smoother delivery everywhere
I'll report back later on fuel economy once I've done a few tanks full
So far....even compared to the excellent stage 6 chip, it's big step forward

Instalment 2

OK Folks fuel consumption update a few weeks in and with a newly cleaned K&N air filter but old 28k spark plugs ...worst achieved 50mpg ( I may have been in a bit of a hurry :-) ) best achieved 55.4mpg taking it easy. Long run yesterday, 50 miles of slow town work, a 100 miles of A roads and 550 of motorway and it delivered 54.4mpg overall

As a guide to relative performance my average speed for the trip (including waiting 15 minutes at the delivery end, 2 fuel stops with coffee and a snack and one sit down food stop at a diner) was 56mph, which if you know anything about long distance riding isn't too shabby

As ever a quality product from JG

Quick update

Recap - I fitted a stage 8 chip in my single spark 1150gs with standard air filter, cat and stubby earlier this year. Bike was transformed, much quicker everywhere but seemed less smooth at town speeds with a snatchy throttle. I contacted John who kindly sent me a stage 7 chip FOC and this arrived after few weeks - thanks John.:beerjug:

Things have been a bit hectic here lately, but managed to get the chip swapped over yesterday. The bike seemed to start up that bit easier and seemed slightly smoother at idle. I only managed a few miles around the villages but the difference was marked. Slow speed progress was much improved with any easy transition from overrun to power on. Didn't notice any significant surging and heard no pinking. Bike seemed lively enough on the power but didn't get the chance to really open it up.

I'm aiming for a longer run with a fuel economy check soon and will report back, but so far I think stage 7 is a better fit for me than the stage 8.

Thanks again John for all your help.:bow

ive a stage 7 in my single spark in my r1150gs I had a stage 8 was far to rich and advance to much early revs smell it was burning to much fuel as well stage 7 is the best I think I use the bike everyday in all weathers very nice to ride now. well done mark c.

Thanks Alan.

I made perfect stage 7-8-9 and 10 for any situation and for any hardware setup.

I think it is finish my work on BMW boxers bikes.

More torque at all revs of rpms without any problem, little richer fuel, smooth function of engine, and more power and final speed at top end.

For full stock bike, for de-cat system aftermarket exhaust for free air filter and for any hardware mods (camshafts, comsprockets and any more).

Thanks to UKGser forum, to all users for helping. :)

King Regards from Greece :)

I can send to any UKGser member chip for free cost., just send me a pm fulll name-address-bike details.

Many thanks.
