Thanks John, will report back when it arrives. By the way, I fitted your stage 4 chip before a day on the track. Rode 150 miles to get there and the bike was smoother than I've ever felt it through traffic. On the track it pulled like a train with more midrange that I'd felt before. Thank god for rev limiters ;)

Received my new #10 chip, thank you John.
I'm 1500km away from home so cannot try it for another 3 weeks.
Currently touring on the GS in mainland Australia with chip #9 and running fine.

Dear John, I’ve been following the topic closely but my motorcycle was out of service for too long as well as TB repair:

First preliminary conclusion:

In personal, indirect comparison to 1200GS (98bhp), my motorcycle goes as well or even better and unlike 1200 there is always feel of power. It can be driven from as low as 1500 rpm, accelerates like a bullet in all gears, fuel consumption is lower than before which is probably due to well tuned engine. Plugs are currently Champion RC 9YCC, I have yet to compare them to Brisk and Autolite. It would be interesting to see results with your chip but I’m afraid I am too late for free sample, though it is not a problem to pay for one if you still have them available. Thanks.

Hi John, I've received a second chip for my GS1100. Unexpected but welcome. That means I may have to buy another 1100.
I just have to set my TPS & balance the throttle bodies following a butterfly shaft replacement, then I'll fit the chip and post up my thoughts.
Thank you John.

Rob did you have the stage 9 chip in your 1100? Think we maybe got that chip roughly similar time ago and have the same bike. Interested to hear if the second chip is any improvement (no complaints over the stage 9 i have though!)

Hi GG, no, my bike hasn't had one fitted yet. John has sent me two by mistake (same type) just got the second one yesterday. (R1100GS, 1998, no cat, standard pipe and air filter).

It's odd that PM is availale only to subscribed members but OK.

Thanks Andrew. Let us know about results please. :)

Hi John, fitted S8 last Friday replacing S9 chip hoping to improve MPG. 1st run out was all duel carriageway (A1 Newark to Richmond), 120 miles running at around 70 MPH, disappointed only got 41.66 MPG.

1999 R1100GS in standard trim I.E. no cat, original exhaust, std air filter but with NGK BKR7EIX plugs and CCP jumper fitted 30/87A

With S9 best MPG 50.33 worst 46.25 any ideas or comments?

Just for the record I whilst I had the tank off I replaced the fuel filter and fully drained the tank to clean visible crap, on refilling got 25.5 litres in. Sound about right people for a 11GS with steel tank?:nenau
