Allihies again.. but off to Asia soon....
Anyone recommend any other system or is Joomla the way to go?

It seems quite complicated for making a 15 page site... But is a one click install to at least get it running, now that is easy...

Depends on the functionality you need but Wordpress is far easier to get your head round I find. I spent weeks trying figure Joomla but just a couple of days to get results with Wordpress.

1000's of templates out there. Just an example of some of the paid for templates at http://www.elegantthemes.com/ or freebies at http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/.

Its not just a blogging platform - you can build rather nice websites with it as well.

I used to do alot of these for Clan sites all over the place.
Look at E107, which is very easy, I used to use LDU which was great but it went off the GNU licensing and is now paid for, and has been rewritten.

Wordpress is ok, not that easy for a beginner, look up "opensource cms" and have a look through for the best one that suits your needs.
Depending on your need for the site, I am sure you will find one to suit.

Availability of plugins themes and ease to edit/change the theme are important factors.
Most you will find are in written in php, not a hard language to learn, quite simply in fact.

All in all you, you will need a ISP (provider) that gives you php, mysql database and a good reange of optionsforgraphics which shoudl be standard these days..

Drop me a line if you need help.

I can do a one click install of any of these, I don't necessarily need the easiest one as I half know what I am doing, but after a few hours with Joomla it seems a trifle OTT for my initial needs of about 20 pages...

I am doing a small job for a mate of mine and don't really mind how much time it takes, I use Dreamweaver and Flash up till now but he wants CMT...

FWIW I use RapidWeaver for my own sites and those of friends and family, seems fine for smallish website, not ideal for forums and where the content changes frequently.

An hour and fifty minutes later on.... www.muchevache.com I am just messing about btw... Seems easy enough, but have not figured out where to change the "tip" message for each button...

Skin dependant. look around for a couple of other skins and see.

You shoudl find it in css or template files.

Now used three

www.irishgrass.com nowt to do with grass BTW:smokeboun which is cms made simple

www.muchevache.com something about hidden cows e107_

and another... Joomla

ignore the content I was just looking at how to do it. Ta for the tips...

They all seem to have their good and bad points... I reckon it is actually easier to learn how to make your own web site with DW or Flash...
