Is this possible – i.e + cable straight onto the starter motor terminal and – cable earthing off the footpeg?

I tried this today and it didn’t work – however when I jump started straight to the battery it fired up first time. Jumping off the starter motor should work – shouldn’t it?:mmmm

1150GS BTW

Thats how i jump start a GS. But it does need a good earth point.

It should work!

1150 Adventures have a live take off which I am sure is powered from the starter.

I used it several times to take power from a mates Adv to jump start mine when I was out for a run a couple of weeks ago.

I am sure I read a post about fitting the power take off parts to a standard GS and they were not expensive,it would certainly make jump starting much easier.

Try this:

£20 & 20 minutes to fit.

Late 1150 Adventures had it fitted as standard, can be retro-fitted to most oilheads with ease. For an earthing point, I use the head of the large caphead bolt that screws in the cylinder, located beneath the TB (from memory?) Late Adventures have a stainless lug that screws in to the heaf (6mm thread) as standard.
