Would anyone know if its at all possible to jump start another GS via the accessory socket as I was thinking of making up a lead as two of my mates also ride GS 1100s

No it aint mate the wires are to thin... I'm sure someone will give a more technical answer, but that's what it boils down to 
Socket to socket sorta thing? Sounds like an ace way to melt something
I really ain't got a clue as to what I'm talking about but my first thought was that the diameter of the cables that feed the starter motor will be way bigger than the cables that conect to the back of the accessory socket.
Hopefully someone that knows will post - but I'd be wary.

Lee Bastin did a conversion on Monkia & Simon's GS's before they left on their trip. It involved wiring an external 'connector block' onto each bike direct to the battery, if memory serves me well it was located just under the seats. The 'jump lead' was then connected to each bike and then sick bike could be started.

Thanx for the info but you can buy a lead that jumps cars via the fag lighters, never seen one so i dont know how thick the wire is.

You wont get the amperage down a fag lighter... or rather you will and then everything will melt. Are you sure you not thinking of a charger that plugs into the socket?

I have also seen a cigarette to cigarette lighter 'jump lead' for sale...I'm sure it was in Halfords !!
We don't need them on air cooled BM's though

The simple answer is that you can't do this (unless you want to fry the wiring).
A starter motor on bite draws 3-400 amps. On churn that drops to about 150 amps.
Check out how thick the wire on an arc-welder is. The current draw is in the same ball park!
Use the socket to charge the bike using a battery charger. However, given that an 1100/1150 alternator can churn out over 50 amps, I wouldn't even use the socket for a bike-to-bike charge!
If there is another bike in the vicinity, have the rider give you a push and jump start yours!

I think the solution here is to make up two short lengths of cable capable of carrying the starter motor current. (off cuts from jump leads).
Connect one end to the battery pos and neg, the other to two suitable jack sockets, clearly marked.
Buy some cheap jump leads from halfords, remove the crocodile clips from one end and replace with compatable jack plugs, again clearly marked pos and neg.
This would enable a jump start from any accessible battery such as a car.
An alterative to using jack plugs and sockets could be sourced from a marine electrician.

is that possible with a gs..
have push started other bikes but the gs is a bit big n awkward..

If you are travelling with other bikes then it is possible without a fire, you connect your bikes together with the lead but DO-NOT try and start the flat bike untill about ten to twenty mins , to let the doner bike trickle charge the lower battery, Then disconnect the bikes and try and start the bike.If you have got a M/FREE battery then dont try, just bump it if you can and get your battery properly charged later.ps ,make a lead up thicker than standard to make this job safer or get your bike checked over to avoid it in the first place.

Don't forget if the big GS's battery is totaly flat, you aint going to bump start it by pushing it because the fuel pump isn't going to be feeding the injectors

The accessory socket has a 15 amp fuse protecting it.
Charging by connecting one bike's battery to another might use more than 15A, so you may be pushing your luck if you connect them through the accessory socket. A beefier cable direct to the battery would be safer I reckon.

Wunderlich appear to do a "bikestart" and "bikestart to bikestart" kit in their catalouge.
