The first thing I planned to do was to put an SC Projects pipe on my 1100 Evo but I found the standard can was plenty fruity enough (even though I prefer the look of the SC). I will maybe get one of those cheap full systems from AliExpress which seem to be about a quarter of the price of an SC can. I also had to fit an Evotec tail tidy but it looks like this 1200 has already been done 👍. Smaller front sprocket fitted to alleviate the massive over gearing too (it's still too high really, but a lot better)

Yeah Ducati put the map on , Alternatively you can get a third party to do it.
The weight loss and sound alone are worth it IMHO

So, how is it? :nenau Does it get you to the cafe in Cleobury ok? :D

Sorry it's taken a time to respond, but I didn't get notified of new posts for some reason.

Anyway, I had been waiting for a suspension c-spanner for the Ohlins to arrive. Then the wrong one came... The previous owner must have weighed 22 stone, or been one of those "set it rock 'ard" types because the rear suspension was jacked up big time! Standard setting is 14mm: this must have been over double that. I was also waiting for the eccentric chain adjuster c-spanner because the chain was too tight.

Anyway, I got busy setting the front and rear suspension as I thought I'd like it - slightly softer overall than standard, knocking back both compression and rebound damping one click less than standard and having two fewer turns of preload on the forks.

The bike was in touring mode when I got it, with the engine on the mid setting, and I thought I'd leave it there for the first ride.

Before the first proper ride, I'd ridden the bike only a few yards and I had the "can't find neutral while the engine's running problem. I cleaned, lubed and adjusted the chain and... problem solved! Happy days. Until it started again. I now find neutral by changing into it while still rolling. Works most times. I'll have a look at the chain tension again soon.

I took it for the first decent ride to Ledbury. At first, I thought the bike felt a bit nervous, but then realised that was me! When I got off the narrow, bumpy lanes near me and onto some A and B roads, the bike felt light-steering, but balanced and secure: I realised that, at first, I had been putting in unnecessary steering inputs and so oversteering. When I relaxed and let the bike do its thing, it got better and better.

Getting on the A49, I used the full rev range and the very effective quick-shifter. Clucking bell! What a lovely motor! So much meaty grunt - and still on the mid engine setting. For some of the overtakes, I was genuinely surprised at the thrust, as the actress said to the bishop. Subsequent rides have been so enjoyable, I honestly put this in the top five bikes I've ever owned. And, for some reason, I still haven't put it in full power mode. This week, honest.

I find myself in third gear most of the time and have seen on a few sites that people often change the rear sprocket to 43 tooth from the 41 standard. I might consider that, but I'm very happy with how it is, so why bother?

So, I feel very happy with my choice and don't miss my Multistrada V2S at all.

My 1100 can be pig to find neutral, I am surprised this trait carried over to the later water cooled bikes which I assumed would be super slick. If it's anything like mine it's nothing to do with chain tension but it does get increasing less of a problem as you get used to the gearbox. Gear change on mine is super smooth when the engine is spinning but can be lumpy at low revs. I fitted a one tooth smaller front sprocket as I was only using 4 gears, even now I never get into top. First few rides I joked that 'it's not difficult to find neutral, there's one between every gear' but I haven't hit a false neutral in ages, again it's juist getting used to riding the thing. I love the handling on mine too but it was worth being deliberate with counter steering and building speed until I was fully acclimatised. I genuinely love my Monster and any foible adds to the character, probably same reason I put up with my bastard Jack Russel. I could have bought a Honda if I wanted bland efficiency

I’ve never worn those Alpinestars gloves I bought off you about 3 or 4 years ago! :blast :D
I just can’t help myself when it comes to gloves. I must have about 15 pairs at least.
