I´ll order a bag. Mine is the same colour as yours. I haven´t looked at bmwmotos.com for ages. Although went for a ride with another guy who is involved a lot called Gustavo (Guzy) last weekend in the maestrazgo. will start to follow it more.

cheers

The GS Adv. is not common in my Country, as it happened to "Spanish Bob" many people around here stopped me just for looking at it.

I recently fitted Touratech fog lights and a leather Bagster tank cover (exactly the same colours and logos as the tank itself).

Anyway, it looks far far better than the new GS1200 :D

PS. : Spanish Bob, be careful when washing the bike with the back "R1150GS" stickers.

That would explain why mine hasn't got any then!!

What happens? They slide off, or peel away?

Whaddayamean "fat boy", I'm only 15 and a half stone...that's lightweight or at least average boy on the BMW forums, there's a lot of 6 footers out there...;-))

Tranquilo I´m 17.5 stone!!! but very well spread around me 6-4 frame etc......

Congrats on the new Adv. Bob. I'll be getting my second hand Adv in the new year. (Too long to wait) but have a shoulder op on 11th december. Anyway I degress, does the brakes on yours whirl when stationary? I only ask as when I tried mine at the dealers it didn't make any noise like on the new RT's, it's supposed to be an august '02 Adv! I thought all the brakes on the Adv were the Evo's? Finaly can you remember when the Adv came out please? ie month/ year?
Cheers John:)

Mine (new in October) makes the same "whirl" as an RT:beerjug:

sorry a bit late - I think only the twin spark models have the EVOs with ABS. I think that all bikes without ABS are also without EVO and associated funky whirring noises. Might be wrong though.

Franco - why is you bike lying on its side in the foto - is it resting?

Bike down.

I wanted to get a phot of the sign, but the bike is soooo figgin big, I had to knock it over to stop it getting in the way...:D
Truthfully, I went out some little Alpine tracks and roads round our way to run it in. This one track was gravelly, and covered in ice patches, so thought it might be an idea to switch off the ABS and do some 'controlled' (sic) skidding with the back brake...you can see from the position of the bike what a numpty idea that was:rolleyes:
If you click on the photos button at the top of the page, I've linked my gallery to the UKGSER forum, so you can see a few nice pics of the bike upright too....
Having lifted it twice that day, I don't think I'll get too excited off road again (at least until we've been to Touratech;-)). It's a heavy beast...
Engine bars were a great asset in this case. Got them free when I bought it too..Thanks Dimensia BMW in Nice

Thought as much - Haven´t had to pick mine up yet - but I know I will very soon. It is just so damn heavy, great when moving, but a bitch when still. also the evo brakes are a real thrill when parking and you switch off the bike for the final manouvres and NO brakes.... still apart from that it sbloody marvellous!

Picking it up...

Just keep working out Bob you'll be fine...Thoroughly pleased with it though. Done the 1000kms, but will still run it gently for the next 1000 or so. The manual says I can't give it maximum accelaration until after 2000kms. I think it deserves a gentle period after the trauma of the last week....
Funny the initial lack of brakes when the motor isn't running. We've got a steep bit on our drive and it's caught me out....

Bob,
Mine has ABS not sure whether it has EVO brakes or not though, will find out when I pick her up from dealers.
Really envious of you and Franco out and about on your Adv's, I'm going in for my shoulder op tomorrow, which was originally due on the 20th november until my lung scare came up. So with recovery it's looking at least until middle to end of january before I can ride again:( .
The worst of it is the beautifull weather we're having in Belgium at the moment and I don't have a bike to ride yet!
Hope you have lots of fun riding yours, hope to be in your region in the spring some time.
Cheers John:beerjug:

good the hear that it was just a scare. Hope the nurses treat you very well!

Yep having a cracking time. Let us know when you are coming "Dahn Sarf" and we can orgnaize a little outing!

mend well...

Just a little feedback on how the first miles on the adv have been.

marvellous! But smelly - is it the cat that makes such a stink or do i have a dead cat wedged up under the rear mudguard? The valves went a little out of adjustment. Suspension dropped slighltl, notice more of foot on floor and pinkies slightly rounder than after the first day. What about you Franco?

Just received my Tobinator -. have to say yer man Andrew hasa brilliant level of service - looks very well made - cant wait for the weekend.

first 1300kms

Agree...marvellous! yes, mine smells a bit too, but ti's more like paint or that sort of smeel. I think it gets stronger when I had the heated grips on full (yep, it gets cold here sometimes)..Haven't noticed the suspension dropping at all. YOu should you haven't been touring round and stopping at at far too many Tapas bars?:D
I got on the old GS1100 today, and it's amazing the difference. Much lower for a start, riding position is much more cramped for my long legs. The engine on the 1100 is much more liberated, ok, it's done 60,000 more kms, and has no cat (Laser exhaust)..I'm still running the Adventure with a degree of sympathy...well until at least 2000kms. Should be nicely warmed up for a trip out to Orange in the New Year..;) I'd also thought the Adventure was more susceptible to wind buffeting, but now, having ridden the 1100 again, not sure there's much difference....

Rode my airhead yesterday and very interesting - I have to say for all its agricultural feel, it still is a cracker. lighter (much much) and I am sure it turns quicker, so much better in the city.

as for the tapas - well it would be rude not to really;)

Airhead?

So, are you gonna keep the airhead? Or punt it on? I was thinking of keeping the 1100 and making it a 'raid' bike, but think I'd be better off selling it and getting an XR400 or something like that...we'll see what turns up..no hurry.

Bob, glad to see you're enjoying the Adv, mine had the dead cat smell for a week or so, I'm glad to see they all get it!
I found the Tobinators make huge difference to buffetting with standard Adv screen, if still not enough try the +7+4 CeeBaileys screen, takes you to a different world, wind noise drops as well, but keep the standard screen for the Mediterranean summers!

dont know yet - My wife definately thinks I am! The 78 RS is going/well gone almost - riding it up to euroclassics in Northampton next weekend. I have half a mind to do something like GS Wolf. The pros are obvious the cons are (1) ive only got half a mind, (2) money and time (3) place to do it etc... I´ll probably sell it though as I can really manage two bikes.

Bawdy - I´ll try the standard screen and then see how it goes, Im trying to be a good boy and go bit by bit as this bike could become an expensive addiction. Bought the Baglux cover though,
