Only managed 20 miles but couldn't be happier.

Most difficult part of ordering the bike was choosing the colour (not sure if admitting that will score me many man points in here!!). I thought the red, white and the blue all looked awesome.

Not even sure what made me go with blue in the end...but I think it looks pretty good.

Couple of pics below.

Enjoy the new bike, mine is on order. Was also a bit stuck on colour choice but gone for red as all my other 5 GS have been silver or grey with one white one in there, so thought id try a bit of colour for a change!

Plus red ones are faster lol!

Very nice, congratulations.:thumb

You may want to put some clear film (or dark, if you prefer) on the panniers and top box, as they mark very easily.

Great bike that- mine has now done 10K in 10 months and is just getting better and better- autoblipper is fab!

With the bike being so heavy as standard without luggage I didnt go with the top box/ panniers and only fill the tank up to half way, that way its a similar weight to the GS. Just done a 2000 mile tour of Bavaria with a 30L Roll Bag and still took too much!

Well done you. I'm repeatedly seeing knobbers with full luggage all the time like wtf. No way are they going rtw.....tossers

Seen lots of folk come off when catching panniers on gates, walls etc too. I mean, they look good and everything but a major difference between a fully laden bike and one with a tiny bag on it ( or it looks tiny as the bike is so flipping huuuuge! ). Miles better on the twisties and easier to get on/ off the bike.

Quite nice to get to a hotel and be able to carry bag, helmet and gloves in one hand.

60L Roll Bag for me. I always take my Uke with me on tour and am not a fan of all those tin boxes. :thumb2

And less to remove when it gets a bit out of hand. :blast

:D

Wrong tyres for that methinks. 60l that's massive but looks strangely fine on the bike. Mine looks tiny by comparison!

Bit difficult to take my double bass ( or electric for that ) too. Ukes are superb.

Thanks for the next tip re protecting luggage. I'll have a look around for a thread to see what/how people have done this.

I agree with many of the comments re the luggage but I will be using the bike to do some travelling two up and the dealer did me a great deal. (Pics were taken as soon as I got back from the dealer last night). To be honest they look better than I thought they would and as I'm "a big lad" as my mother would say (6'5 and 15 + stone) the weight doesn't bother me to much and I'm just glad to have a bike that feels like it was built for somebody of my size and not Dani Pedrosa's doppelgänger!!

BMW's Large Softbag is a super bit of kit, 55ltrs and very secure on the bike. I use a 46ltr Kappa top box and sit the BMW bag across the pillion seat.

Talk for yourself and not others. Very judgemental. I carry a shit load. Thats why I got the bike. Its a cart horse! I am a snob! No camping. 4 star plus so need clean and smart too as does the wife.
Why doss if you dont have to. Neither way is right or wrong.
I love bikes and bikers but because a biker isnt doing it my way hes not called anything but a fellow biker. Least of all behind his/her back!!!!!

I dont want my skids to last a week!

So, just because they have panniers means they should be going round the world? You really are making a habit of looking rather daft on here.:blast
