Picked up my new GSA

Powder coating

My reservation on this would be that powder coating chips quite easily. Once chipped, it can't be touched in, and water gets in behind it and it'll come off relatively easily. A proper paint job would seem to make more sense, albeit the finish on powder coating is nice. I know a few guys who have restored old motos and regret powder coating the frames. Looks great though!

Looks fantastic, only thing I would do now is off with the Orange R1200 Sticker, and go naked or buy a pair from 2wheelhumvee and replace them. Nice job though, top banana.

I had the parts powder coated to the following standards.

(not sure if all these apply)
BS EN ISO 9227:2006(ASTM B 287)Acetic salt spray test
BS EN ISO 7253 Neutral salt spray test
BS EN ISO 1519/3900 Conical mandrel bend test
BS EN ISO 2409 Adhesion test
BS EN ISO 2360 Thickness test
BS EN ISO 2813 Gloss level test

If/when I spot an issue the parts will go back for a recoat.

The next job on the list is to get the tank sides measured to get Matt Black vinyl/wrap covers made to cover the area inside the red line on the pick below.
Looking for wrap with thermal qualities :D

Oh the Twinduro's are waiting to go on :thumb

I thought the whole purpose of powder coating was that it didn't chip easily and therefore was great on items such as frames that were right in the firing line from road crud?

That's what I was thinking. The only downside would be in the event of a drop, the powdercoating will need to be redone.

That really does look great, well worth the time.
