one final question, how do i link routes together,
as a friend has done a route from the uk to germany, and has done it in 4 parts, but i prefer to link them all together, rather than stopping and loading up another route, each stop.
thanks
From memory only....
It is easy but have a small experiment or two first, using copies of the four routes.
Open route one of the four routes.
Go to route properties.
You will see a list of the Start and End points, with all the points in between.
Highlight and cut everything between Start and End.
In a fresh window open route two and go to route properties.
Just beneath Start, paste the data you cut.
You may, depending on how your friend did his plotting, get a message saying 'Consecutive points are not allowed'. This is OK, it is simply that you are trying to route through a single point twice, but without moving.
Click OK
Your PC will now recaluculate the route. It has to as you have changed it.
You should now have route two that is a combination of the old routes one and two.
CHECK THAT IT LOOKS RIGHT!
If it's OK....
Open route three (you can use the now empty route one) and repeat. But this time insert the cut data at the bottom, not the top.
Recalculate....
CHECK THAT IT LOOKS RIGHT!
Repeat as necessary.
Save the final completed joined up route.

Notes:
Play around with it. I learned a lot doing the 80 Virees a moto routes. You cannot break anything.
You can use the same method to slot bits in anywhere.
You can do it the lazy way by simply tracing over the four routes, using Root Tool. Load them all into one file. In route properties, change the base route colour from magenta; it will make it easier to trace over it as you will be able to see where you go. Make sure you trace over it exactly, so zoom in and out.
Long routes take longer to load and definitely longer to recalculate on the GPS device.
