K+N or Uni-filter

Something else for you to worry about............
If you ditch the cat the bike will run a bit leaner, if you put in a free flow filter it'll probably run leaner still. The GS has a tendency to run lean as standard anyway. Stick with standard.

K&N or UNI

I had a wonderful chat with the bloke who kicked off UNI FILTER is Australia.
At one stage he was selling UNI's to blokes who raced Baja and similar desert races. These blokes where getting contingency money from K&N for finishing in the top placings, and using K&N products.
They were putting a smaller UNI inside the K&N filter, and it was coming out dirty at race end !! Once they started using UNI, their engine life increased.

That said, pleated paper filters ( original equipment ) provide better filtration, and provide cleaner air to the motor.

Lets tip it a little further then...

Crossed the western Sahara twice with a standard filter with no probs. Just tap it out every now and then. I had a spare with me which I fitted before the return leg as a precaution but I don't think I really needed to...
