Hey guys, I need to hard wire a switch onto my k100 as low beam isn't working and high beam only works on flash if I hold the button down so was going to hard wire it, unfortunately I'm not so good at wiring, any one know how I could go about this? Getting a some 15 amp wire, 10 amp fuse and a waterproof switch, any thing else to hard wire to battery? Cheers guys - Alex

It may be just the starter brushes

I have heard of something similar before

I cant recall exact details but I think the load shedding relay earths through the starter brushes

i.e. When you press the starter button the relay clicks out and the non essential stuff is switched off so there is more power for the starter

Once you release the button the relay is grounded through the starter brushes again and the relay clicks back in

Someone with an idea about electrics could test this idea by bridging the load shedding relay terminals with a dod of wire with a fuse bridging it ???

If the headlamp comes on its to do with the relay / brushes

If not its look at the headlamp relay ..... etc etc

Why not stop by Rainbow and see if they can have a check just GET a Price before you go and ask them just to diagnose not repair Unless the repair suits your pocket

Remember someone with experience will poke around for 5 minutes whereas someone who has not worked on them could fcuk about for an hour to accomplish what the experienced person did!

The switches can be dismantled and the contacts cleaned (don't used WD40 use Deoxit).

Or, second-hand switch gear can had fairly cheaply.

dismantlement the the switches and couldn't find anything wrong, Ended up hard wiring my own switch, which will pass MOT =], I know lots of people that have their own switches for everything and will still pass MOT, will investigate in future properly this is just a temporary fix =] , cheers guys.
