Thinking of buying a loony K 1200 R Sport before I get too old. Anyone on this forum got any actual experience of the fuel consumption?

I had a K1200S for three years and it averaged around 47mpg vs about 50mpg for my GS and RT, but it was much quicker (goes without saying :D )

The more abundant S has around 15bhp more than the R and R Sport and the R top yoke/handlebars are very easy to fit :thumby:

Mine averaged around 50 mpg, but there's a price to pay for that
It was one of BMW's first euro 4 motors and it runs very lean..... A real pain in the arse at low revs. A power commander transforms the bike but fitting it is a nightmare

The deal is done. Pick up next weekend. Hope I have done the right thing.

You'll love it but your licence won't:D

You will love it. Blow off almost anything at the lights :)
I get 45mpg out of my K1200R from my 40 mile commute to work which includes some 'brisk' A roads and 10 miles of London traffic.
MPG does drop if you sustain over 90 for any length of time though :)
