K1300R - Anyone got 1?

nearly

close to buying one last month, had two K1200R's and they are fast enough!

for £1200 you can have the HP2 digital dash fitted. ;)

Got the K1300S.

Same bike as R,plus fairing/clip ons but I find the S actually more comfortable.

Utterly ballistic engine-fastest bike I've ever owned and that includes MV F41000,GSXR1000 K5 etc etc.

Eats rear tyres a bit-First one lasted 2600 miles

Stunning handling, with traction control and ESA.

Best brakes of any road bike ever-as confirmed by TWO and Bike mags in recent tests.

The Rs do seem to lose value quicker than the Ss for some reason.

Also, the 1300 is a huge improvement on the old 1200.

But,unless you REALLY want the R,try and S first.

At speed,it really is brilliant, whereras on the R,you will be hanging on like a chimp in a hurricane.

But both bikes are very adaptable.

Ride somewhere with panniers and ESA set to Norm/Rider/Luggage then get to the twisties, remove panniers in 10 secs and set to Sport and off you go.

I'm 6'1" and have done 500 miles in a day with no aches at all.

But my S does have the screen and clip ons which is SOOO comfy for highish speed cruising-the screen is MUCH better than the bloody thing on a GSA12 which just buffets a taller rider.

Anyway, enough waffling,go get a test ride-but please try the S as well as you may prefer it-I did.

I tried the K1300R a couple of months back at Bahnstomer. Love the look of it - in gunmetal grey it is like some sort of military grade weapon... The power is absolutely phenomenal and the noise (it had Akras fitted) was wonderful - the speed was too much for an unfaired bike but the acceleration was fantastic. Now if the bars were a little raised and a bigger fairing...mmmhhh.

I think it's great value for money compared to a GS too!

I've got a K1200S fitted with K1200R bars - they offer a bit more leverage, but I'm not sure they've improved the (already good) comfort :)

Keep toying with the idea of a K1300S, but not sure if it's £7k better than my 3.5 year old 23k immaculate 1200? Might just buy a second bike instead - or a VFR1200

Been playing on a K1300R today while my new bike was in for some work... what a bike. Ballistic performance, incredible handling... If I hadn't just bought a 1200 GSA I'd be after one, no matter how unsuitable! Now if you could afford one of these as a second bike... :thumb2

Think you'll find that's called the K1300GT... :) took one out a couple of weeks ago. Absolutely phenomenal engine... power everywhere, turbine smooth and lovely sounds. Spins up so freely as well... sorely temted for next year:thumb2

Sven,

Do the R bars fit straight onto the S?

As I prefer the look of the S but prefer the wider bars on my R.

Had the new 13S out for a day but just dont find it as comfortable as my R.

Didnt think there was a massive difference btw the 12/13, was a little disappointed to be honest.

Will want to try the new R, as it is little different before I part with my cash.

Was considering the new VFR until I heard the price....

Got a K1200R - great bike, awesome acceleration but it's not a tourer. I drove it from Inverness to Chester yesterday and the wind gets very tiring very quickly. Drove from Chester back to Matlock this morning over the Cat & Fiddle, what a hoot !

I have a K1300R got it the middle of August it now has 3800 miles on it. So far 250 miles is the most I have put on in a day. I have a givi rack with 52L topbox and givi quick release pannier rails with 35L panniers and will be touring on it next year 2-up. I tried the S as well but found the R more comfortable on my wrists. I also found the R you knew what speed you were doing where as the S you were going a lot quicker than you thought. It does eat rear tyres a bit mine needs a new one now (not too bad I suppose for 172 bhp). It is also a bit limited on tank range but so is the R:nenau. The quick shifter is excellant once you get used to it. I did 3100 miles in 12 days in July on my 1200GS with my mate on his CB1300 (with no screen) and he coped fine so I am sure the R will cope, obviously you have to make allowances but you have to with all bikes one way or another. I say try one and try and get it for as long as you can. You WILL love it:thumb
