Well, I had a K16 GTL booked for the day on Saturday whilst my GSA was in for her service. The plan was for Sarah to come with me but she decided against it, for various reasons too dull to go into on here.
Just as well she didn't come as I got to the dealers just in time to see the bike I'd booked for the day being picked up & ridden away by it's proud new owner. I have no issue with this, it was there to be sold but it might have been nice if they'd told me in advance as it was sold the week before.
In the end I was given an F700 instead and a cracking little bike it is too, despite a screen that's too small & an uncomfortable seat.
Things did become clearer on the K16 front though as I was talking to the Sales manager who told me that the K16 is only any good on Autobahns, it's okay on A roads, not very good on twisties & terrible in town, apparently.
He also went on to explain how little profit they make on a £2,000 mark up on trade-in bikes, I honestly hadn't realised what a favour they were doing us by buying our bikes off us & selling them on, goodness knows how they stay in business.
I've dealt with this bloke when he was at a previous dealer & I didn't warm to him then either (to say the least).
When I say things have become clearer, what I mean is I'm ignoring anything he said and won't be doing any deals with him at any point.
The sales lad, however, is excellent so I wouldn't rule out using the dealer, just any involvement with their new man.
