K2 - Kielder Sign-in thread

ive retired my 1150gsa from off roading!
lovely bike and i dont want to destroy it

should really get hold of another nice one and destroy that - too many great memories on my current one...:D

Gotta say Sweet Lamb sprint rally was good, real good. Any GSers thinking of having a dabble off road in an event could'nt do better than have a go at that.

Shame they have to wait best part of a year tho! Any more thoughts on your "night rally" for later in year?

Woodys gear. Exquisite - but I cant even afford his spokes! $200 a set.

Cheers Molly, and see you at K2.

You too Michael?

cheers mike i agree gsers could have a good ride around the sprint coarse to test the water maybee
nb have you tried central wheel to lace a 21" rim onto a gs hub ???? if anyone can they can

the night rally is still on the cards even a sprint incorporating the night stages ????
see you at k2 good onya for riding the bm

I'm signed up for this one on my R1100GS. Sweet Lamb was awesome but I had a few problems that weekend. :( Left home on Friday morning and forgot all my medication (I take 15 different tablets per day) so by Sunday I was going cold turkey and had the shakes real bad. Will need to think up a fresh excuse for K2:D

This weekend will hopefully be off-roading at Exmoor bash then weekend after it is off to Touratech for blast around Walter's Arena. Good warm up for Dawn to Dusk in August.

Look out for (and give assisstance if required :D) to my mate on his new HP2. Dave Watson No64.

Good luck all................

Are people camping on site?

Thought I'd better chuck my tent into back of car but wondered if people are wimping out and staying at nearby B&Bs, if there are any.

Don't know what weather is like up north but it is seriously shit down here in Devon tonight with 70 mph winds. I don't fancy trying to put up a tent in these winds.

Whats everyone else doing?

Hi Sid

I'll be camping, at the site or rugby club or whatever it is.

Will be on the Husky tho - putting a new engine in the beast and not got it done in time. Bummer. Was hoping Moly would lend me his old HP2....

Tie your tent to the Beemer, it'll be fine!

M

Hey Sid

We will be posh camping in a Bessacar wobbly box, come by and say hello might be able to do a return brekie for you, there is a farmers stall cooking food all day as well.

I am in a nice warm lodge ,... but I am feeling the pain for all the campers as I look out over Kielder water from the balcony :D

Field looks a bit of a quagmire - hopefully there is a tractor to tow people out (or in for the sat morning lot!)

Bit of a nightmare event.:(

Spent 12 hours driving up on Friday having left home at 9.00am and getting stuck in very slow moving motorway traffic jams all day. Finally arrived at 9.00pm. By the time I had my tent up I was soaked through.:(

Things started well on Saturday morning, first couple of hours made it all worthwhile:)

I had introduced myself to the paramedics at the start as I usually meet them at every event I go to so it saves time later:D

Then it started to rain, hard. Got soaked to the skin again. Routes off the main roads became very difficult on my R1100GS in soft slow mud. My left wrist was getting very painful and swelling up. Helped pull a KTM rider out of a ditch and then wrist hurt more. Then managed to crash my GS and flip it completely upside down. Both me and bike now very battered and bruised.:(

Realised that I wasn't enjoying it at all so decided to retire. Threw everything in the car and set off for 450 mile drive home on Saturday afternoon. Managed this in only 7 hours.

Pissing down with rain now here in Devon and not yet been out to car to unload.:(

Wrist is still hurting like hell and in two minds whether to go for an X-ray. Paramedics strapped it up yesterday and suggested I get it checked if still hurting today.

Feel like giving up trying to race the 1100:( The bike is too heavy and I have to accept that I'm too old/unfit and too crap a rider to get to grips with it.:(

Not going to bother with Dawn to Dusk now.

Feeling a bit pissed off today in case you hadn't noticed.:(

Sorry to hear about your tails of woe, might be an idea to get the wrist looked at. But at least you can hold your head up high and nobody can say you didn't try. :thumb2
