I bet you would still cover it in Gaffa tape,:D you did fantastic on that big GS :bow nice to meet you and hopefully see you at another rally.

Those that have considered entering the Kielder rally should know that the organisers really do welcome riders of all abilities, particularly big bikes over 600 cc, and the event is intended for folk to have fun and enjoy themselves. I arrived 10 Min's late for one of my timed sections the timekeeper asked if I had had a problem, "no" I replied I have been taking a few Photo's,:D he thought that was brilliant.

big respect for the guy on the gs you are what its about mate well done ,i just hope that any body who rode that on a puddle jumper realise your achivement...... cus anyone can get an enduro bike round its not difficult on one of those . but a gs AWESOME well done

thanks for all the comments about me getting it round - I still cant believe how much better the second day was.

NEVER thought i'd see the day i would be backing the GSA into gravel corners, exiting with the back end out through the gears and then hitting fast gravel tracks at 60+ mph countersteering like a speedway bike ha ha

what an absolutely amazing weekend, fantastically friendly people and nobody too good to help with all my questions.

I thought the weekend started well when i tore the time check sheet out of its little plastic bag and the organiser just looked at me for a little while wondering what she had in front of her, then just laughed and gave me another one. I did the same again... then the penny dropped ha ha brilliant.

It seems the results are posted on the dirtbike action website but I cant open the page(s)for some reason.
Can anytone cut n paste them on here at all please ?????????????

Ps . . a mate of mine who rode the event at the weekend lost a bumbag with a few tools and spares in.
I dont suppose anyone went home with it by mistake did they ??????????

The dirt bike action site says it's found the tools, he should contact the organisers..:D

I can't find the results where on the site are they?

EVERY ONES A WINNER AT THE K2 RALLY
Victory for Bounds, but everyone’s a winner at the Desert Rose K2 Rally! The Dirtbike-action crew made some major changes to last year’s event , the event located on the edge of the tourist town of Bellingham Northumberland altering parts of the 65 mile lap to include 3 enduro loops, 2 of which were new. The course mainly flowing forestry roads and hard based tracks in the kielder forestry complex provided the big rally bikes with ideal conditions for some major sideways action. The team were dreading the worst as Tuesday and Wednesdays weather was appalling, the rain lashed down but the Dirtbike- Action crew continued relentlessly setting up the course. Thursday was much better with glimpses of sunshine coupled with a drying wind. By Friday we now had real hope for the weekend as the sun shone. Saturday dawned bathed in glorious sunshine, the wisps of smoke rising from camp stoves as breakfast and brews where made readying the riders for the day ahead. As the bikes departed the campsite at the rate of 4 a minute and headed over dunterley towards pundershaw a famous RAC rally stage of old, the full entry was soon on the road and moving towards the first check.after the first A few of the big rally bikes opted for the enduro loops. Lyndon Poskitt on his multicylinder KTM 950 was on one of the biggest bikes and muscled the mighty machine around all 3 of the enduro loops on day 1, an unbelievable feat as some of the enduro class riders made heavy work of them. Craig bounds was on the gas on the test as he set the fastest times of the day with 2 tests within 5 seconds of each other. This was a great feat after he lost a brake calliper after a rider drifted across the road forcing him in to the ditch just after the first test. Lyndon Poskitt set the second fastest times of the day on the multicylinder KTM. Russell Spray had his own adventure on the test as rider and machine leapt into a deep ditch within 10 feet of the end of the test. After a team of marshals failed to wrestle the heavy weight machine out, a quad bike was summoned to extract the beast. Mark Mollinneux as ever was enjoying himself as the impressive sounding BMW HP2 scorched around the test to claim second in the multicyliner. The two side cars running in event for the first time were enjoying themselves until one of them rolled it in the first test. Tony Whitehead lead the under 250cc trail bike class after day 1. As the remaining riders finished the test a short uphill section towards the end of lap 2 was starting to prove difficult for the riders. The riders helped each other as is the case on rallies and the sweeping marshals extracted the last few riders, every one made it back to camp and the finish of day 1.Day 2 started an hour earlier again bathed in sunshine and blue skies. With some revised course times and the troublesome section towards the end of the lap bypassed. the riders set off at a prompt 9am start. Craig bounds once again won the tests in the rally class while Lyndon Poskitt won the multi cylinders. Lee Kelly won the rally plus hard route for the second day and Patsy Quick finished off a solid weekends riding with a third in the rally class and forth overall . As the riders finished off the second test and headed for home, the feedback from the riders was excellent and they were all winners on the enjoyment front. The enduro sections 1 and 3 where the most challenging and it was good to see so many riders giving them a go from all the different classes, other that the rally plus for whom it was part of the route. Changes are already under way for next year with a brand new test with duration of 10 minutes and changes to the route. I would like to thank all the riders for making the event so enjoyable to run. We are still developing the event and i think the blend of flowing gravel roads and trails and the optional enduro routes makes the event appeal to a wide variety of riders. A special thanks to all the marshals, Forestry Commission and Colin and Michelle of Kielder Organic Meats for the start area and the fantastic catering. Hope to see you all next year at the 2012 K2 and until then Rally on!! Report John kerwin

Really enjoyed the weekend, the route really was fun with hard packed stone trails mixed with grass tracks and finally boggy grassland. I entered the over 450cc rally plus class and was doing quite well till the last test on Sunday afternoon when half way through the timed test I got a snake bite in the rear tube, changed the tube, refitted the wheel then found i had lost the adapter for the air canister I was carrying to inflate the tyre. :blast

Finished last but had great fun will definatley enter again. Ordered moouse for rear wheel today.

Great respect to the guy on this forum who took his GS round the rally + route, wow!
 
I came 3rd in my class. For my first rally that's really made my day. I feel like I've completed the Dakar. Lol I learnt so much about riding and met some cool people. Everyone seemed to have time to help out is newbies.
 
those result sheets just make no sense :D
cant suss out the classes... i ride an 1150 twin, but there seems to be multi cylinder, rally, over 650 and gawd knows what else! The special stage times dont seem to be all there either, just day 1's two stages?

Anyways, an amazing weekend was had. :thumb2
