K2 - Kielder Sign-in thread

Feeling a bit better now that I've taken some special painkiller ie the left over Winkerleigh cider that we didn't drink last weekend at Airhead Weekend.:beerjug::beer:

Been outside and pressure washed the GS. Not as badly damaged as I thought. Tough old bikes these 1100s (unlike the feeble old rider).:D

Sorry for being such a miserable git before.:D

Sorry to hear about the bruises, l thought the weekend was a great event, probably the best riding you can have on a big bike, seriously impressed by some of the KTM 990 950's whatever they were, they were really flying , first time I have seen bikes that big ridden so well, I enjoyed the 2 days of riding and only missed 1 bend during the weekend but the consequences were not too bad, just had to jump a drainage ditch. Think the event would benefit from some grading, fast, medium and leisure rider. So that the quick guys are not cutting through the newbies and then roosting them or as I heard swearing at the not so quick guys, that behavior will only deplete the numbers, lastly there should be a 10 minute break before the Enduro group are released on to the back of the BBRC, all in all though fecking cracking weekend, makes working worthwhile when you can spend the money earned on a weekend like this one.
Thanks everyone:beerjug:

I guess you are talking about on the liaison stages rather than the special. On the special anything goes!

There were some idiots on the liaison stages. I saw some smashed lights, nasty cuts, bruises, including Michaels lip of course. Its just a liaison - not a race. There was plenty of opps to pass safely, leave a wide gap and pass without roosting.

It was a cracking event again and well worth the trip, I should be back on the GSA for the next one.

Good to see another Beemer there,

Great Rally, really enjoyed it this year , last year was on my exc but this time the xchallenge came out and much preferred it
Think the rain actually made it for me gave it a few tougher sections which enjoy best
Swapping my Ryedale entry to the xchallenge now so I can do the whole year on a big bike 
Big thanks to Moly and Bert for keeping it all going , sure there's a lot of work involved and a mention to Dibdob top man who I rode a good few sections with
Anyone know what happened to Craig Bounds ?

I believe he had an issue with his roof which meant he had to cancel, I was given his number as I was the Husky instead of the GS that I'd entered on.

Yes I saw your near miss , never nice when you know your not getting round a corner !!! Well held though 
Would be interested if you hear of any good 690s there one on eBay now it's not the r version though but only 500 miles
Think the exc is going and possibly the GSA but not 100% sure yet
Like the idea of only having one bike instead of 3 , a 690 with the rally raid kit on could be the answer , phils bike looked cool  what happened to it though ?

Not sure about Phil's bike, Think it was electrices but he probably scared it into submission like he does to most people :D Whey to many muscles on that bloke :augie

Glad to hear you all (mainly) enjoyed yourselves! I was thinking of you all on Friday night/ Saturday morning as the rain poured down. :thumb

Good to see another Beemer there,

I am talking about on liason and special,
On the entry form, we just need a 3 boxes,

Whats your riding style

  1. Want to win
  2. Like to ride quick
  3. I enjoy the trai l/ countyside aspect of the event

Then we could issue start numbers 1-15 to group 1, 16-30 to group 2, 31-45 to group 3.

This way come the special you should really only come across riders of a similar ability and then yes anything goes.

On the special I came across an HP2 half way along the narrow path through the cut saplings, the HP2 was holding up a 950se which was holding up me. The HP2 kindly pulled over at the halfway point where there was width to pass, so then I was just held up by a 950 which was not so bad as the rider was real quick.

PS What Husky were you riding 630?

I think he was on a 510 ;)

Dibdobs got it - I was cheating on a 510 Husky, my GSA was at the hospital....

Dunno why they put me in the big singles but Lyndon was there too and it was good to ride with Moly for a bit. I had a play in the enduro loops so soon fell back tho'. They were pretty tough, really tight going and as I was 1st through it was as slippery as a greased weasel.

Your system would be good, plus maybe factor in championship positions too.
Mind you it would mean actually starting on your minutes ;)

A few parts of the Special were too tight for passing at all, yet alone with a modicum of civility - as Moly put it "Whats an Enduro stage doing in a Rally?". Having a slow rider in front for a while is a frustrating way to lose seconds, given the huge scope there is to do that all on our own!

Anyone seen the times up anywhere?

Just as well I failed to get an entry to Ryedale in early July as my wrist wouldn't have healed by then.:(

Perhaps I should get some "NHS" stickers for my bike in future.:) Pain in wrist got worse this morning so called in for check-up. Hours later and after x-rays I'm now strapped up with damage to schaphoid(?). Difficult to drive manual car so will have to use an automatic for next week.

Just have to get me and bike repaired for Hograost.

no it was not me as i was the last to go through .....

i pop my arm 500 yrds before :D

I was there. I fell off sunday morning in the special and broke the gear lever and a couple of mounting brackets on the KTM, carbon tank guards saved the fuel tap though!

Was a good first rally and I look forward to more time on the bike and less time working!

EDIT: first post after a year of lurking!
