For Sale Kawasaki GT550 G4

This is my brother’s bike. A 1988 GT550 courier’s dream. He bought the bike a couple of years ago and it was recommissioned by him alongside a Kawasaki dealer and independent. Excellent condition for the year. MOT to June 2026 with no advisories. He is looking for £2,000 ono. I had one of those in the early 90s. Same colour. The first bike I really went touring on.
I kept it immaculate for 5 years, then sold it to a mate who promptly crashed it.

My neighbour had the GT750 as a commuter bike - he was covering about 160 miles each day, in all weathers, but the contract was long & lucrative.

Ultra reliable old beast, until he crashed into the back of a car early one morning & got dragged along the road - black & blue all over he was, including the gents area, but miraculously nothing broken apart from the bike. After that, family pressure meant using the car for long haul jobs, but he was allowed to revert to that other courier favourite, the CB250RSA for local commutes. When you think about it, these bikes, along with the Reverend & the Plastic Maggot were ragged to extinction - it's amazing any are left.

Anyway, enough reminiscing ......... GLWTS

Your post brought back some great memories of chugging up and down the Old Kent Road commuting into Central London on various clapped out bikes that just wouldn't expire, admiring the swarms of despatch riders on these bikes, the 750, CX500s, CB250s and VT500s. Oh, and the XJ series, particularly the 900. Did the sun always shine in the 1980s? It seemed like it.

In motorcycle terms first us of a certain age now.
Methinks the sun did shine on motorcycle of that time.
CX500, CB250s & a GT550 4 me back then..
